I haven't posted here very often but suffer with many of the issues posted here.
Myself and a friend are caregivers/partners to our spouses. We have a desperate need to get support and time out and away. Both of us think highly of the Alzheimer's Association but find their support groups too structured for our needs.
We both live in the Tulsa, Ok area and just wanted to put some feelers out to see if there was any interest in a group of folks with issues like ours that would like to put a non traditional group/support together. Just once a month or so. Maybe coffee or dinner whatever we wanted. Can discuss issues without structured leaders or just talk and maybe forget the issues for an hour or so. Whatever we feel the need for at that particular time.
Please let me know if there is any additional interest in this sort of thing.
Uh-oh ... skee was complaining that nobody here lives in the midwest. Have you looked at the "Where are you from" thread, to see who might be in your neck of the woods? (I'm in San Diego ... Tulsa is a bit too much of a drive.)
By the way, I went through and put all the names in "Where are you from" by states and sent it to Joan, since I don't know how to get something from Microsoft Word in to a web site. I don't even remember anyone on there from Oklahoma..
