Sounds like a silly thing, when we are faced with so much. My DH has had a breakout on his back for some months. I took him to his PCP who gave him an antibiotic, and took a biopsy, and said it wasn't shingles, it was just an infection of some sort. After three weeks, I had a dermatologist check it, another biopsy, an he said it needed a topical lotion. Two weeks later, on a check back for a basil cell surgery (original reason for his visit), he said we should try another antibiotic and also the antibiotic lotion. Well, one month later, there is absolutely no change. Looks like an acne outbreak in a big patch, but no worse, no better. The antibiotic messes with DH, but felt it was better than getting sepsis or shingles, etc. Now what? Guess I just treat it like a teenager, and keep it clean. Anyone else have this going on??

No suggestion janny, but at least you know what it is not. My first thought was shingles but that was rules out. I guess if us caregivers can get a rash from stress, our spouses can too. Do you use dryer sheets? They are notorious for causing rashes.

L had a rash on her arms that disappeared after a few days. She thinks it was stress.

Last Monday dh broke out in a rash all over his torso. Nurses have no clue as to what it is. First they had me put on hydrocortisone cream (on each spot as it is a steroid you can't apply like regular lotion). Then another nurse suggested washing with Dial antibacterial soap and then applying neosporin. The rash first looked like pimples. Then that turned into a blister. Then that opened to a red spot. After several days and lots of laundry (went to a no dye, no perfume detergent and softener) they are finally starting to disappear. I wondered if it was heat rash as I had been using the vaporizer a lot due to his coughing. The nurse also had me wash his air pressure mattress with soap and water and dry it well. She suggested not using so many blankets so I only put on a blanket when really cold during the night. Just use a sheet and he seems comfortable. No real itching, fever, or discomfort or so it seems. Looked on the internet at pictures of various rashes and so many look alike. Ruled out shingles as the rash was all over and not in one spot. I had shingles earlier in the year. One nurse thought the rash looked like chicken pox. I guess I will not know what caused it nor what it is.
