Has anyone had this happen? My husband has always, occasionally talked in his sleep, but last night it was all night it seemed. I woke him a couple times and asked him to quit talking :), he did for a few minutes and would start up again. Around 5:30, I had to leave the bed for the couch. Soon I hear him and he is bawling...so upset. I wasn't there and he is so sorry for disturbing me and he doesn't want to upset me (I wasn't upset). Should I just be happy it's talking and not nightmares? Is this the same type thing? do you think medication is needed? Even during the day, if he dozes off, he starts talking. He wakes knowing he was talking.

Hi ea, my dh talked in his sleep when he was in mid stage 5. Never did before, but I could have complete conversations with him, he would respond and keep talking until whatever was prompting the conversation was done. He did not recall the next morning he was talking at night. As long as the conversations/dialogue is benign and he isn't talking about anything violent, I woudn't worry about it. But you may be sleeping in another room more than you want to until this phase passes.

L does talk in her sleep some times (I think she was this morning but she could have been slipping in and out of sleep). I can't make out what she was saying. So now, if she talks at night, I ignore her unless it is clear that she is talking to me.

earthangel ... f you click on the "Search" button on top of the message board and type in the words "sleep talking" you'll read earlier posts on this same topic. My wife has been talking aloud in her sleep now for well over a year ... she never did that before ... and still wakes me up several times a night by doing so!!

My husband talks in his sleep at least two or three times a night. I too can ask him a question and he will answer. I usually tell him he is just dreaming and he needs to go back to sleep. His doctors tell me the aricept causing this talking. At first some dreams were scarey - he was reaching into a hole and an allegator jumped out. Now he dreams more about work or us driving together. I drive and he is giving me directions. I usually touch him and tell him he is dreaming. He says ok and turns over. I tell him about his latest dream in the morning and we both get a good laugh. He has been doing this for a couple of years. Someone said their dh did this in stage 5. He was diagnosed with moderate to sever memory loss. So that might be stage 5. Will this continue?

Lloyd stopped talking for the most part a long long time ago. If he could talk in his sleep, I would stay up all night and listen!!! Grass is greener blah...blah...blah.

Come on over, Linda, I'll let you listen to DH all day long-almost! Yeah - I know about the grass...
