    It was just one year ago today at 1:30 A.M. that my life changed forever. My DW Jan went home to be with our Lord. She had suffered for nearly seven long years and after several months of fast decline passed. We were married almost 51 years and at first I did not believe I would ever find happiness again but the Lord blessed me and through my faith He recently sent someone to share my life with me. I have moved on and she has become my new soulmate. We are happy together and both our families have accepted our relationship. Life is good. We have a few health issues but at 71 we are supposed to have a few health issues. My prayer for all here both caregivers and former caregivers never give up on yourself if you want a future go after it, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. You are never to old to find a new future and you have already proven that you are a winner by caring for a spouse and surviving so time does not stop but if you want a brighter future go after it. After all what do you have to lose?

    Bruce, you are still a wonderful caregiver remembering Jan, but I am happy you've found someone to share your "post alzheimers" life with. Glad to know this horrible disease didn't take you too! May god bless you and your new relationship.

    Bruce, it's so good to know you weathered the storm. You had me worried a couple of times but I always believed in my heart that when the time was right you would be blessed. I know you will always value what you have found. You deserve it.
