I invite you to log onto the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com - and read today's blog. It is an updated version of the one I wrote for the 2010 Oympics. I think it applies today as much as it did two years ago.
Coiincidence I'm sure, but today my Case\Manager with Area Agency was here top do my quartrly recertification for my 4 hrs. in-home help, per week. While here, she complimented me on being one of the strongest, caregiving spouses she's ever worked with, both in keeping him home, and in advocating after placement; inspite of my own challenges, and the ourtrageously horrible in-laws I dealt with. she cried. I cried. i also told her it was so good to hear the words. She also said words to the effect DH's family should be all but worshipping theground I walk on . I chuckled.
Later, in the mail I received the Probate Order closing our Guardianship case. I am relieved of that duty.
AndJoan helped me get signed back in after errors bounced me off,so I start my new life here as carosi2*.
In keeping with the topic, every one of us needs to remind ourselves, and each other "We have taken on a Herculean Job and we are doing one hell of afine job of it." We will seldom ,if ever receive accolades for our efforts, but we know we did our best...and it was good enough!"
