My dh has been urine incontinent for about a year now, give or take. A month ago he had his first bout with fecal incontinence, in a restaurant. Yesterday, he had his second bout with it, again in a restaurant. My question is, at what stage does an FTD patient get double incontinence, generally?
Hanging on. I don't know about the difference between FTD and "regular" Az, but my guy just started the poop issue, and now it is a constant from over a week ago. It is like they just lose the ability almost overnight to KNOW when it is time to go. Well now we are sisters in this.
Hanging on, my DH has FTD, probably mid to late 6 on the Fisher Alzheimers scale but is not YET incontinent. We've had a few "accidents" but thankfully we were at home. Two were with a soft stool, almost diarreah, and one normal (TMI, I know) and he had no idea that he pooped in his pants any of the 3 times; he said he had to pee. So now, I make sure he poops every morning after he wakes (no matter how long it takes) and take him to the bathroom several times a day. Thankfully we haven't had a recent incident but who knows when it will happen again.
dont think it has a thing to do with the kind of dementia personally. when the brain is affected in the part that connects bowels, bladder --brain. then you will have incontinence - it depends on the areas that are affected in my own opinion. divvi
