I don't know about anyone else, but this heat really seems to be affecting Lloyd. His medicine doesn't seem to last as long. I swear he is sweating it out. Woke this morning to him jumping across the bedroom floor with his fists up like Muhammad Ali. Good morning, world! I have not let him out into the heat much at all. I have been trying to keep him in the A/C. Going to look for some herbal additives...maybe Valerian. Any suggestions.
Myself, I have broken out in hives everywhere! Seems if the stress can't have my brain, it will just take my body. OTC allergy medicine has been helping; but as soon as the medicine wears off, the hives return. It's almost funny. Take the pill...wait an hour...hives go away...wait a few hours...itching returns...take the pill...wait an hour...and on and on and on.

Linda I use to break out with the hives at the drop of a hat. My doc. prescribed Atrax for me and it really helps...I haven't had to take one pill in months...maybe even a year. The pills really make me want to sleep...so I usually just take a half tablet and see if the hives go away with just the half of a tablet.

Yes,I think the extreme hot weather is affecting my DH. He just keeps going and going ,will not even try to relax. On the advice of a friend,Igave him the valerian and it did quiet him down. I was afraid it would make him sleepy,I did not want him to sleep during the day or he would never go to bed, but it worked fine, I give it to him every other day.No side effects. When I had given it to my dog several years ago it gave him real bad diarrhea. But didn't affect DH.

Well, gang, it seems that the hives have finally gone. The OTC allergy pills really helped. I may ask the PCP about the Atrax the next time I go in just to have on hand.
yhouniey, you described exactly how Lloyd has been the last few days. Going and going and going!!! And has to be with me constantly. I swear he would crawl up my butt and make a nest if he could. Mercy, that would even be a break if it were possible! Gonna get some Valerian! Let you know how it goes!

Atarax is usually sold as the brand name of Vistaril; the generic is hydroxyzine. It is very inexpensive and can be quite sedating. It acts quickly. It can be used as a sleep inducer or enhancer. If you don't want the sedation you might consider a topical cortisone. Another alternative is generic benadryl as a cream or generic benadryl as a po (which can be sedating too), either that as a topical or the cortisone as a topical. I have very sensitive skin and have tried each and every combination I have heard about.

When I use to do a lot of flying between Illinois and Ca....I would always take one-half of an atarax amd I slept the entire flight. One time, I didn't even know when the plane left the ground. Hope I didn't snore.

OMG, I don't need anything that will make me tired! I will try the benadryl gel. Lloyd is sleeping less and less. I have avoided sleeping pills because they impair him so much but they are starting to sound good. I am exhausted and afraid if I fall asleep that I will have loads to clean up when I wake up.

I agree with Abby, you do not want to take the Atarax. It is used as a sedative and it is a small pill but it does pack a wallop. You might be completely out for several hours if you take it in this heat. Try some aloe vera gel or some coconut oil rubbed in well on the rash,. These both work well for us. I just had a laught imagining what my DH would do if I took something that knocked me out. Oh brother............... do not go there.

a hot weather laugh ( or cry )
No problems beyond the norm, just a little light humor to brighten the day
Yesterday,DW put on her bathing suit backwards and had her flip flops on wrong feet
Her comment "boobs don't work right" and "feets ugly"
