they figure there could be a half million affected computers. You can go to the FBI site and they tell you have to find out if you do. Just google 'monday virus' and the info will come up.
It's the DNS changer virus which was busted last November. Agencies that discovered this bug kept the infected systems up and running until this Sunday midnight I believe.
If you are running Norton or Norton 360 this is covered under different acronyms which are Zlob and Tidserv (don't ask me), and if you have your antivirus set to automatically update virus definitions it's virtually certain you do not have this.
I ran the test last week and it took just seconds as Lori said.
If all this stuff leaves you cold the odds of you being infected are extremely low and likely less than one in a thousand even without an updated antivirus program.
On Debbie's link at the bottom of the story "DNS Malware: Is Your Computer Infected?" are three grey links. The middle is called "Check Your Computer's DNS Settings". Click on that once.
Scroll down to the column named URL and click on that first grey link "http://www.dns-ok.us/"
When the screen pops up in green you are ok. This is a legit FBI site and it's safe which is why Deb recommended it.
