Oh wow..tomorrow is the 4th..and I didn't get to planning the party.... I suggest you all hop on your virtual airplane and come to the Central Coast of CA..It is way too hot and muggy back east and in the mid west too...our weather here has been nice...sunny and not too hot...well we don't need air conditioning most of the time...so how about it??
We can go to the local beach and do the hot dog and burger thingy and bring salads and all sorts of picnic things.... I'll make brownies..haven't made em in a long time and just am dying to lick the bowl! haha..
Cool drink suggestions??? No beer on the beach I don't think....so punch..
Hay you Canada folks can come too in fact all are welcome from whatever part of the globe you call home..
Mimi, we now have grass fed organic beef on our island. I don't care for the regular cuts as there is not enough fat, but the hamburger is wonderful. I will make the patties for the burgers. Glad you woke up to your duties.
Mimi-you are indeed fired. Tomorrow is my birthday and the next day is my daughters. I braved I95 through black skies, rain so hard I couldn't see, spectacular lighting and finally hail. Y'all come on down to sunny florida to party. I'll treat to all the fireworks.
Well, too bad. I just finished making my salad for the 4th of July party in our clubhouse. I'll drink a toast to Nora for her birthday. Happy Birthday from Bradenton!
Happy anniversary marty and happy birthday bluedaze. Thanks for the invite Mimi. I could bring the beavertails and the nanaimo bars. Gives me a chance to do my doritos and big gulp pilgrimage. I like wearing my Soupy Sales wig and oversize sunglasses when I come down and when the customs man asks me if I have anything to declare I grin ear to ear and say "nope". You meet the nicest people.
Happy 4th of July tomorrow. No taxation without representation! Personally I think you guys are lucky that King George was completely mad. Come to think of it, so were we. Anyways, we were glad to help when the British (cough) seiged Fort McHenry and Mr Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner. Before that you guys were singing "My Country Tis Of Thee" which happens to sound exactly like God Save the Queen. Nevermind.
My birthday was yesterday. We are getting strawberries from the garden so I'll bring them for either a cake or just on the ice cream. It is hot as hades here so any cool ocean breeze sounds of wonderful. We spent time in Tacoma and I remember a 4th of July with a sweater. I imagine that now as our a/c has conked out and no repair guy until after the 4th of course. Happy Anniversary, Marty.
Happy Anniversary marty. flo, Happy Birthday yesterday. Nora, Happy Birthday tomorrow! (did I get everyone?) Mimi, you are forgiven! Wolf, I loved Rosanne Rosanadana!
Well here we are....the airport here in San Luis Obispo does have flts that can arrive as late as midnight for all of you coming..in the Village of Arroyo Grand is going to be an old fashioned 4th with lots of picnicing and musical groups ..it is an old fashioned band stand and gazebo in the square..you need to come see this quaint little place...and of course we have to leave early enough to get up to the higher elevations so we can see the fireworks that will be set from down at the beach!!
We have to celebrate!!!! Woo Hoo..
But for those with pets, take care to keep them in so they don't get so frightened that they run off....
Thanks all. We're off to a lobster fest thrown by friend's, then to the roof where we get a 180 degree view of fireworks from four cities om the mainland. Last night we enoyed a nice evening at our fav just the two of us. We went early and she held up fine
happy belated to flo bluedaze and anniversary to marty! any time we can make ourselves smile a bit is worth the effort. treat yourself to something decadent! divvi
wolf--we went to an unconventional wedding in Toronto years ago and instead of a wedding cake, they served nanaimo bars. Gosh, they were good. The bride wore a dress with a purple satin bustier and an orange and purple tulle skirt; the groom, a traditional suit with black high-top tennis shoes. It was quite an unusual event.
