While waiting for DH to slowly, and I mean SLOWLY, do things like eat, wake up, fall asleep, go to the bathroom, etc., I have started playing words games on my iphone. It helps me be patient, challenged and entertained while he slowly goes away from me. Are there any other game players around here? I would appreciate playing against any of you knowing you are in similar situations. I play Scramble with Friends and Words with Friends, my user name is reinemann (maiden name). I also play Draw Something but I am so bad it's embarrassing. If you start a game let me know you are from here. Games are high on my Sanity Savers lists.
I have two IPOD touch thingees. My daughter has a job were they give her the latest whatever Apple and she gives me the old ones. I learned to play scrabble and keep the two of them going. It helps me pass the little minutes where I am standing waiting, waiting, waiting. (Why are our AD spouses so slow) For some reason the scrabble "takes me away for a moment". I have to admit I don't know what my user name is and will have to research it.
I also have played Bookworm. I don't play for very long at the time for obvious reasons but I keep a one game going for months. It is amazing what is a word in Scrabble isn't a word in Bookworm. I haven't tried Draw Something but will look into it.
The IPODS are always with me as they have all our info on them and my AD LO can play Bejeweled while we wait for doctors' appointments and tests. It keeps him distracted for a few minutes.
I have a problem with me eyes and can't read printed word on paper but can read on the IPODS because of the brightness of it. I read all my news on it instead of the newpaper now. I also use Books on Tape - Audible and keep a book going since I can't read anymore. I can sit with one ear plug in while I am waiting to have a conversation with my husband - waiting for the responses that mostly don't come. I miss reading, quilting, etc. because of my eyes and miss my husband.......
I have a question - off of this topic, but wonder how others keep organized with all the volumes of papers, doctor's visits, keeping Rxs current. I have several doctors, agencies, etc. , lawyers that we are currently working with for several years now. I have everything in appropriate folders and keep them in sorted stacks. Sometimes I have to take many of them with me to an appointment and I can't carry the bag anymore - am getting a luggage carrier. Am wondering how does everyone else keep organized, their appointments, phone calls that need to be made on a certain day, all the paperwork. I have multiple copies, but it seems to be becoming overwhelming. I use a TREO Palm Pilot PDA - I know it is old technology but I know how to use it - but it doesn't seem to meet my needs now. I think I need to take a class
Ad isn't fun to take care of, but sometimes I wish that all I had to take care of was my LO and his actual AD sympotoms and behavior and not all this other stuff which I hate.
Fortunately I don't have all the stuff many of you do. His doctors visits are once a year right now. His only medication is galantamine and vitamins. Guess I am lucky. Too many of you have so many things to deal with.
I play Thread Words and Everyword on my Kindle. I just try to beat my last score. Was good in Dr. waiting rooms or at the hospital We did spend a bit of time there. I enjoy it. Handy if you finish a book. Nice break.
