here in Prosser, WA they are $4.25, in the tri-cities I have seen them range from $4.04 at Costco up to almost $4.50. Oil has gone and AAA keeps saying gas prices are going down, but ours keep going up. They blame it on the fire at one of the refineries in Anacortes. Supposedly it is back online so our prices are suppose to stabilize, maybe go down.
Ours in Palm Beach County have been going down - mid $3 range last I checked in the West Palm Beach area. But in my town, they gouge you! :( I paid $4.25 last time I fueled up, but I get premium. I think regular was just under $4. I need to get my gas in WPB!
$3.18 in Cullman, Al. today. Next Saturday I'll be hitting the road to my new home. A new beginning that I am looking forward to but at the same time I am scared to death. Driving five hours by myself is not something I am looking forward to. Praying that God will be my co-pilot. Sold the house and had less than 3 weeks to close out. Then I called and the place I was going didn't have a vacancy. After many calls I found a place that would rent on a monthly basis until there is an opening so now comes the downsizing and packing. Anyone want to help me? I think I know how Carosi felt. So much to do and so little time to do it. It's 1:36 and the old lady should be in bed. Good night everybody.
Julia - that comes out to about $5.68 a gallon. 1.50 x 3.785 You have us all beat, guess I won't complain too loud. It is good we drive very little and get 44 mpg. I think of the states CA, WA, OR and Alaska are the most expensive with Hawaii included. Idaho is a lot cheaper which doesn't make sense - they must get their gas from somewhere else.
I can remember not so long ago when it was 95cents a litre...Wednesdays is the best day, as it's cheapest then...goes down to $1.39 litre Our big grocery chain of stores offer 4cents off vouchers, if we spend $30 or more on shopping..
I remember seeing the signs at gas stations when I was a little kid, probably back around 1935 that said "8 gallons for $1" And on the long drive from Illnois to Florida at spring break time in the 70's it was often 29cents a gallon.
We have Lowe's Food here in this part of SC. For every $100.00 you spend you get 5 Cents off each gallon of gas. The $100.00 is counted over a period of time so you don't have to spend that much in one trip. Lat week I went to gas my car...I didn't have the discount but the gas was $3.13 a gallon.
Bama*, that's a lot for anyone to do at any age - and scary - especially coming on the heels of years of caregiving and recent loss of your husband. I'll be praying for you along the way. You are a trooper.
Central Texas gasoline is priced all over the place., lowest being around $3.32 up to $3.49. The silliest thing is that the prices will say, $3.39.9 (that extra "point 9" is another penny, so why don't they just say $3.40) What is the thinking about adding the 'point 9' after gas prices. They've done that for as long as I can remember. When I first began driving, I remember gasoline cost $.14.9 cents per gallon.
State taxes have something to do with gas price. Last gas I got was $3.08 with my Kroger discount. We live in smaller town in middle Tenn. Nashville and larger cities have emission regulations so their gas is different blend I think. Good luck to you, Bama. I've driven to Orange Beach twice now and I take a break every two hours - takes me about 8 hours. You are hours closer - we go by exit to your town, of course. Good luck and I hope you get settled in very soon.
We moved to a new region about 5 years ago. We didn't know at the time that my wife had AD. I set a goal of finding two dozen things I wanted to help me settle in. When you're a thousand years old like you are you then maybe you can drop the swimming hole (could be a community pool). However, things like a good deli sandwich (still looking), a good bread bakery, a good pastry shop, a good italian deli, good ice cream, a farmer's market, a nice looking drugstore and a chat with the pharmacist, and most of all - a decent family restaurant where I can eat a few times early and feel a bit familiar.
Since you drive you can also add a couple of scenic spots like parks that you can enjoy. Seeing things like that restaurant the third time helps the mind settle. At least it helped us.
This is Wolf's posting: 1.24/litre x 3.785 for us gallons x 1.041 exchange. I would not worry about the exchange rate, close enough to a dollar - not the big difference there use to be.
Looks like Canada, and us down under pay the most... Our $ was on par and more ($1.05) with the US dollar last week this week it down to 97 cents to the US dollar
