Yesterday, as I was reporting the results of our neurology visit, I neglected to mention something that happened related to me that gave me a good laugh.
We were discussing Sid's weight loss, and Dr. S. said much of his loss of appetite was more than likely related to many of the medications he takes (20 altogether). First, I said to him - I can assure you the weight isn't lost - I found it. Then I asked, "Gee, isn't there a pill on Sid's list that you can give me to make me lose my appetite and lose weight?"
He said that many weight loss doctors are having success with Topomax, which is approved for migraine headaches, but makes you lose your appetite. He said I should ask my doctor about it. I swear this is the truth - He then said......................but the side effects are memory loss and difficulty concentrating! I couldn't help it - I burst out laughing.
My son told me this: His family and some other folks had been invited for a soup supper at mutual friends'. One of the guests is a widow in her 50s. An older couple in their church had met on line and were doing well; so said widow decided she'd give it a go and posted on the same site. A month went by w/no response. Another passed w/same result. She was feeling blue--no one was interested:( After the 3rd month she decided to check on her posting. It included these vital statistics: 3'8" tall, 412 lbs. She pulled her post.
