Just wanted to let you all know that Herbie (my man) had his cataract surgery today and all went very well. The surgery was 2 hours late due to an "emergency" and that sent his BP up a bit; but, overall he was a very good patient and tonight, you would not even know that he'd had surgery just this afternoon, he's so chipper. Very good result and I can't wait to see how well he sees again.
mothert, with the ocular implant they do now, he should be seeing really well , very quickly. Gord went from barely being able to see the big E to 40/20 within a couple of hours. By one week, his vision was 20/20. That is a surgery which has improved unbelievably.
The only frustration for him right now (aside from the constant eye drops) is that he is unable to read small print( books) with his old glasses. I've explained numerous times why and that he will get a new RX when his healing is complete (you all know how effective that is (not)). I think we will go find him some reading glasses today. I'm very glad that we had this procedure done for him - blindness is not a good option.
I just finished my cataract surgeries. My left eye was done in April, and the right one was done May 1. What a wonderful procedure. I'm so thankful that I live in this age, where they could help my eye problems. I got a pair of over-the-counter reading eyeglasses at Walgreens. 2.50 strength. Plus, the doctor will examine me for new glasses in a month. I am so amazed at the pretty colors I see now.
