I posted a question previously asking what medication would help with Bad moods/Aggression. The Neurologist has prescribed Lexapro starting at 5 mg. Just curious if it has helped others. Thanks, Kadee

I AM ON LEXAPRO. There was a whole thread about Lexapro. Go to search & type in Lexapro. I was started on 10 mg. but he upped it to 15 mg. even though I said I was doing fine. I tried the 15 mg. & it made me dizzy. Cut back now to 7.5 mg. But I still have the RX filled for the whole thing, since it doesn't cost any more for my co-pay of $30. Most everything else is $10. I found out to pay out of my pocket the RX would cost me $155 per month. Since I will be changing insurance w/ my new job, and think they don't cover pre-existing for a while, I now have a stockpile. BTW, lots of people I know are on Lexapro. And they don't live w/ AD or dementia. And I've never heard of anyone prescribing only 5 mg. 10 mg. is the standard.

    And yes, it helped ME.

The Neuro is starting out at 5 mg. I don't know why, other than maybe he wants to see how he reacts with the mix of other medications.

My husband was having horriable nightmares almost every night, screaming and thrashing. The lexapro has stopped them. He had two after he started the pills and then none. He takes 10 mg., helps with hand wringing too. They thought depression might be causing his loss of intrest in things. However there has been no change there. Guess its just the AD.
