Reason Button???? Ok I know you can not fix the reason button-it is broken- so why do we (0r at least I) try. Let me explain-he just said he needed to pee-ok I calmly took him to the bathroom -pulled doen his pants and told him to sit down. Now he looks at me and said i have to sit the other way(backwards) in order to pee.So I tried to explain calmly that it will not work that way.He is standing here looking at the toilet arguing that he needs to sit THAT way. OK I yelled sit THAT way-so he tried and somehow managed to pinch himself- yelled at me as to why I would let him sit on the toilet wrong and get hurt!!!!!!!!!! I Now this sounds like a small thing but multiply it by 25-30 times in the run of afternoon and early evening. I tried to tell the dr. that he just says it is an obsession.OK I know that but surley there is SOMEWAY to ease THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
bak would he use a handheld urinal? at times when DH was in the bathroom trying to sit it was easier just to use a urinal as they stand there. remember hes faced the backof the toilet all his life to pee. makes sense to me he'd want to sit in reverse.. grin. aww take a deep breath, exhale, and try to relax - remind him of that pinch when he tries to go again, maybe that painful moment will register. this is a difficult time dealing with bathrooms.
divvi-sounds like a simple thing to fix---- tried the urinal-says he can not go in that.Tried the potty chair-would not use that-told him to just pee in the depends,oh no could not do that. Then just sit down and pee, finally he will but oh the torment!!!!!!!!!!
i found nothing is simple with dealing with this disease. endure endure without losing your sanity. things will improve once hes LESS rational about all this. i know its not encouraging though while you deal. (bak))) throw some old towels down around the toilet area and hope it catches the overflow and be done with it. not much else to do if he wont let you help.
I think I need to cross-stitch that one on a pillow! Endure without losing your sanity.
Well said,divvi.
DH uses a urinal at night. If he is weak, I have to hold the urinal for him. He used to claim he could not go if I were holding the urinal, but after his last hospitalization last fall, he learned he had no other options.
