My Dh has been experiencing since Monday agitation and it turned to severe agitation a day ago he is experience it every 10minutes like a timeclock the Hospice Rn came out today to access and thinks it could be terminal agitation and says if it continues they want to admit to the Inpatient Unit. He has been given morphine...ativan...bentyl...belladonna suppositores...and fentanyl patch dose was increased and nothing is stoppin it he continues to have the agitation almost lifting his upper body up like he wants to get out of bed....and throwing covers off and the vein appears in neck from straining...he developed hard hiccups tonight never had those.. was told to give water mix with lemon and sugar and that is not helping it seems when the agitation comes on he starts the hiccups but it is real hard and loud hiccups...his heart rate has went up to over 121......can't sleep just wondering has anyone else in the late stage experienced this.

angelb, my DH had similar agitation and jerking during the last 5 days, they said it was "air hunger". Sedation did help.
Just wanted to throw it in as a possibility as you do seem very worried. (My DH had ALS/FTD).
Wishing you strength and hope that you will find the answer soon.

Angelb, I don't have any experience of this, but I want you to know that you and your husband are in my prayers. This surely must be distressing for both of you.
