It has been brought to my attention that it's time for another reminder about the Discussion Titles. Many of our new members are not aware of the situation we sometimes get ourselves into without meaning to - veering way off topic.
When a discussion is labled, for example, "Wandering", when you write under that discussion, please stay on the topic of wandering. If you want to ask a question about something else or bring up a topic about something else, please start a new discussion topic.
This makes it much easier for us to stay organized and be able to find the topic we are looking for.
Although the main purpose of the message boards is to discusss Alzheimer's Disease as it affects us and our spouses, once in a while a subject comes up that you feel is important and would like to post something about it. Please label your discussion as OT - which means OFF TOPIC, so our members know it is not about Alzheimer's Disease.
Joan, am I getting off topic? I am very new to this, if I break a rule--feel free to let me know personally as I certainly don't want to get in trouble!! Your guidance and this entire site is such a blessing and has changed my heart. But I am so rattled right now I don't always know if I am breaking the rules for this or not. God Bless,
Don't stress over it. Everyone does it at one time or another, but when it starts to happen with a lot of discussions at once, it makes it hard to follow.
For example, if the topic is "incontinence", and then someone asks a questions about driving, the topic veers off from "incontinence" into driving, and then if someone says something about "sundowning", it veers off onto that, and the main topic gets lost.
Just try to be aware of the original discussion title and keep your comments relevant to that particular topic. But please.................don't stress over it. We have more than enough stress as it is.
What you can do if you think of something tangential that is likely to generate interest of it own, is just state that you will now start a new thread about...x,y,z. That way, the old thread isn't derailed and any interested folks know where to go next.
