You are all so funny! Now this makes me smile and not feel depressed for a while. Although while dh was in the hosp for 12 days trying to die I will admit I could not come here because the thought of his dementia was just another downer thing to bear.
But then there are the rabbits and the phun! I have a little squirrel out my kitchen window that I watch. I have learned many things from it. Did you know they carry plums and apples and put them high in the trees to snack on later? I throw out some of the apples I have in cold storage (my back porch) for it. Some days they stay on the ground and some days I look and it is halfway up the tree stuck in a Vee of the branches. I saw it last fall carrying the plums.
Sometimes there is a racket out there when the crows come and try to steal the fruit and I can hear them all carrying on. Nature is my healer.

grendelsma. i have a menagerie of critter friends here i feed as well. i guess most know i have several pet -but still wild squirrels. that come for handouts, mainly a wedge of peanut butter/jelly sammiches. ha! yes i make them for squirrels cut into bars and have them handy. (i know divvi get a life, well what life? i am a prisoner in my home most of the time like you all!) they are fun to watch as you say they have names and each one has specific personalities for sure. and yes they put food up in the branches for later. they enjoy the cantelope seeds as well as apple cores- lately the jaybirds have been divebombing the squirrels trying to get them to drop their food!. :(like you say, it is quite soothing to watch and hear the sounds of mother nature.

For the first time in 5 years, I can relax. I've done all I can to finish off all the legal matters, and whatever happens now, happens, and is no longer up to me. And it's looking pretty good. Wheww! As far as the medical tests go, I'm almost through and haven't heard anything negative. My family doctor thinks it was a viral infection of the inner ear,and he's usually right. Other than the whiplash from the MVA, I'm feeling okay. Our last essay at UBC is due in a few days, and I'm writing on the many married couples in "Our Mutual Friend" and comparing them to Dickens's own (the course is "19th Century Genre").

This is March? 80 degrees here today. Had lunch at Panera Bread ( our fav) some shopping for swimsuit material and then the main reason to the VA for hearing aid check and cleaning for dh. Just a nice day for both of us. Will put this one in a bottle so can look at it later.

Mary75*, that is indeed good--sit back and let the "final solution" happen. Your essay sounds interesting.

NW IN is enjoying summer temps, too. Wonder how we'll pay for it this summer: increased bugs, high temps & wind??

Picked up hb from care center and drove 45' to podiatrist. No problems, he just walks v e r y s l o w l y. Stopped by one of the granddaughter's house to see the 2 greats (& their parents). First time I've seen hb laugh and smile so much for a long time. He held the 8 wk old and whispered sweet nothings (I guess one could call it that). Called her a him, but who cares it is difficult if you don't recognize that pink attire is usually on a girl:) He stayed awake all the way home just looking around the countryside. So, it was a good day. I'll take him out again just for a drive. Thankfully, he walks in his "memory wing" and goes about "his business" leaving me standing. Never asks to go "home," think he considers where he is "home." The aides repeated what they've said before, "We don't know how you cared for him alone." He still "resists" changing clothes and grabs waistband of pants and hangs on for dear life. Modesty??? Who knows.

Zibby, you remind me of taking Eric to medical appointments and then down to the beach with a thermos of tea and how he enjoyed looking at the ocean and the mountains on the North Shore. Those are good memories.

Just took DD driving for the first time. She turned 16 on the 12th. This is the first one I am teaching. DH did the teaching with the other 4. DD did very well. I am very proud of her. DH hardly said a word to her when we got back home :(

So while I'm enjoying April here in March I am reminded of one of the signs at the residence my wife is in:

Dream as though you'll live forever. Act as though this is your last day.

thanks Wolf, that is a statement that should come to mind each morning. Instead of waking up with tears in my eyes wondering what is next.

There are silver linings, even with our situations. There is a huge Hawaii party tomorrow with many of you, so how can one not smile?
