Joan, I am not a member of your board as I do not have a spouse with Alz, but just wanted to pass on some info before you spend a bunch of money on hearing aids for your DH. My FIL is very hearing impaired and was constantly losing his expensive hearing aids. Ear doctor suggested going to Bass Pro Shop and ordering one of the ones for deer hunters, etc. That's what we did and so far that has worked as good as anything fancy.
P.S. I do not have any affiliation with Bass Pro Shop at all!
Here's another trick-buy a cheap stethescope, put in in the ears of the hearing impaired and speak into the part that would normally be placed against your chest. Inmemory-that was a very generous share. If you are a widow/widower of a person with dementia you are welcome to join us.
Not being a hunter I really don't know, but I would think so you could hear sounds of the deer walking through the brush that you might not hear otherwise. I found that interesting.
Well, my goodness, whodathunk? I looked up that website, and I am going to try one of those for Sid. He needs hearing aids desperately, but obviously, I can't afford them. Can't hurt to try one of these.
As for my father - his hearing aids are covered.
Thank you to InmemoryofSusan.
Oh, and doesn't that website look like the "Outdoor Man" store and logo on Tim Allen's TV show - Last Man Standing.
