I tried to find this topic since I think it was started before but couldn't find it so I decided to start this thread. I am interested to find out how long each of us has been on this journey.
DH was dx'd at 58 in 2008 with FTD or FTD/mixed dementia. It's now almost 4 years for us. I am 60.
6 years for us...Dh was diagnosed with AD in 2006 at the age of 57. I am sure there were signs 1-2 yrs before, but 2006 was the year he agreed to be evaluated, then he decided to retire from his job....
Dw was diagnosed in 2007 and had to stop teaching. She still receives her copy of the Massachusetts Teachers Association publication on a quarterly basis because she is a lifetime member. She has no clue about what it is. A bittersweet reminder of her life then and now. She was diagnosed in 2007 at the age of 57. I was 60 then.
16 years supporting and being a Caregiver to my Hubby with Alzheimers.....He is moving into the final stages.....yet is still able to walk, at a slow pace.....he is 86 and I am 69........It is a long journey.....with a ton of emotional demands and serious patience........
