Jeff often sits in his chair, somewhere between reality and the Land of Nod, and I'll hear him whispering. Can't quite make out what he's saying, but I often get a clue when he returns (more or less) to the plane on which I live.

A few minutes ago, he got up from one of these episodes to tell me how amazing Google is. He says he googled "jobs," and discovered that jobs would become more available in Seattle (a favorite city where he used to live,) later in the year, when tourism picks up. "Google is amazing," he said.

Interestingly, he has not used a computer for roughly 7-8 years, as that was a skill that departed early, but daughter Becca, sitting in the next chair, says that as he was dozing and whispering he was also poking his legs as if there were a keyboard there.

About a week or so ago he got out of bed and told me, in some amazement, that "Tracy and Belle were out shopping 20 minutes ago!" (This is a sister-in-law and her young daughter.) "What makes you think they're out shopping?" I asked. "It's 7:00 am."
    "I saw them!" he said.

It's kind of funny and strange. He just checks out into dream world and comes back utterly believing in the things he saw. Whispering to himself seems to be an indicator that he's in this state.

So here we are, having a conversation (of sorts) about this, as if it were absolutely so.

Emily, I'm so glad you posted this. It's exactly the same thing my DH is doing. Not only dozing during the day but as he falls asleep at night. Sometimes he whispers something and then kinda laughs. After he woke up, he told me our neighbor wanted to buy our house. He gave me the details of their conversation and said he also wanted to buy another rental house we own.

Mine does it too. It's all so real to him - and I hate to burst any of these bubbles - so I just go along.

Jeff does it when he's falling asleep too. It's getting to be a pretty regular thing.

That's when mine does it most - falling asleep.

my DH has been in 'benign hallucinations' for years. if it doesnt seem stressful or make them angry or anixous then i would not treat. this disease messes with the brain in ways we no nothing about. as long as my DH seems content and smiles while talking, whispering reaching for the unknown and agreeing with whomever, i have no problem with it.

Mine moans as he falls asleep, it almost sounds like he is suffering, just heartbreaking. Every time, and this was before he was on meds.

Feeling so sad with all the pain of our friends on this site, love you guys so glad you are here.

Mine does the same...think he has to go to a DO..or he won something on TV and needs to go and pick it up,but everynight he want to go "home", he just can not get it that we live here, there's no other place!

Julia, my DH wants to go "home" every night too. Tonight he looked out the front door & told me that there were people out side (it was dark out). I told him that there wans't anyone out there then I went to the door & he kept pointing & saying there is someone over there, see that red light? It was the back light on our van & it was reflecting our neighbor's porch light. They do see the strangest things!

My dh would also whisper while "resting" and would also be laughing. I would ask him to share with me what was so funny and making him laugh. He would start to tell me and then dissolve into a giggle fit. I never did learn who or what it was all about, but the laughter felt good. Other times he would see violent pictures and swear that someone was in the room and was about to hurt us and if I told him he was having a bad dream, he couldn't believe I wasn't similarly alarmed, but then would have some faint recognition that maybe it wasn't real. Sometimes it would be something minor like a cat running through the room or jumping on the dresser---we never had a cat in our home. My dh was content if I just shooed the cat away.
