How do you weigh someone who is bedbound? My DH is on an air mattress...and just seems like he is losing a considerable amount of weight... I do have a hoyer lift is there anything that can attached to the Hoyer?

In the nursing home they have a scale that attaches to the Hoyer lift

I never worried about his weight. I couldn't do anything about it....I gave him ice cream, and milkshakes, and fed him deserts before regular foods towards the end, because it would get him to eat.

Try the milkshakes.....see if they help.

If you have someone strong enough, have them pick up your dh, stand on the scale, then subtract their weight from the total. I admit it is not the easiest thing to do, but I weighed my dw almost daily, and I would hold her in my arms, stand on the scale, then subtract my weight from the total. But, she was small and easy enough for me to pick up, although it was strenuous....If that does not work, go to the local circus, and find the "Guesser", who will come within two pounds of the weight....
I have a whole collection of stuffed animals that resulted from this method.....

Angel-if you have hospice they should have a caliper to measure muscle mass. It won't give you weight-but is very accurate in evaluating muscle mass which is just as important.

At DW's ALF they have a scale that's a chair the person sits in.
