Lee Woodruff has written an excellent piece on Dementia and caregiving and feelings caregivers have when making decisions about care and placement. She is an eloquent writer and very insightful. I was hoping she would be reaching a wider audience, perhaps educating people who don't "get it." I read all the comments posted and it felt very much like this site with people sharing and venting and thereby educating. Many quotable quotes. . .if you can find the time to read or care to experience another view.
She's talking about the placement of her father, and the difficulty her mother faced in being able to make the call. What happened is, the writer and her sisters had to step in and move things along.
Thanks for the link; well-written article. My hb has been in the "special unit" of the local care center. Yes, I live w/the cocktail of feelings described.
