I wrote this notice on the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com- but in case anyone missed it - Sid has some more medical issues that need immediate attention, so I have been unable to write or post the blogs I had planned. Instead, I put up links to previous blogs that I think our newer members may be interested in. Our veteran members may have missed them, so I would encourage everyone to take a look.
Oh Joan don't worry about it! Your priority is Sid for now,and you can get back to the blog....we will all still be here! Trust me I don't think we will be going anywhere! ha ha And I am sure we ALL totally understand that is why we are here. Hang in there!!
And just when you were going to have some time for yourself, Joan, with Sid in daycare. So sorry. We'll wait for your blogs. Hope his issues are not serious.
Prayers for you and Sid. Don't worry about blogging for us as you tend to the more important and necessary things. As was written, we'll still be here when you're able to get to us.
Thanks everyone. This experience is telling me that too much medical responsibility is being placed on caregivers. When we left the ER today, I was told that I had to dispense and MONITOR the new medications. It's a physical problem, not an Alzheimer problem. Long story, which I can't go into now, but I called the Home Health agency that sends Sid his PT, and told them I wanted the nurse to come tomorrow. There are a zillion Medicare rules under which conditions they will pay for a nurse, but because Sid is what is considered "on Home Health Care" because of the PT, he gets nursing. So she's coming tomorrow. She'll help me figure it all out, and tell me what to do.
Oh Joan, it's always something. God bless you for all that you do not only for Sid, but for us too. Don't worry about us, just take care of Sid & YOURSELF. We will be here when you get back! ((HUGS!))
Thanks again to everyone. All is under control now. While Sid is resting, I am going to go out on the patio, relax and knit - pretty barrettes and scarves for Valentine's Day. No matter how bad things get, at least it is almost always patio weather here.
I know you know all the rules, -- put the oxygen mask on YOURSELF first - take care of yourself or he'll have no one to care for hmself. It's just crazy how we put ourselves last..and wear down to a mere nub of our former selves, thinking that we have no choice. The minute we die, help comes from all sides for our charges. So, let them appear now. I worry about your health more than his.
