Just saw the following article online. It's written for the Toronto Globe and Mail and is quite basic (given restraints of column space) but take time to check out the 3 videos on the left side: The Long Good bye / Precious Time / A Brief History of Alzheimer's Disease. All three videos are brief and obviously only contain barebone info about dementia. But it's good to see that some journalists are at least featuring articles such as these to increase awareness of the growing challenges of dementia. On the Brief History video, be sure to listen to the 1978 history----it features Madeline Honeyman who helped form the first Alzheimer organization in the world. When interviewed, she is, in her words, "almost 98 years old". Very clear! (Click on dots/circles at top of slide show until you get to 1978 and see a picture of an older lady wearing a hat).
I somehow missed this thread yesterday. I just looked up the article. Here is the link to copy and paste - http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/health/dementia/a-brief-history-of-alzheimers-disease/article1707503/
I have not yet had time to watch it, but it looks interesting, and I hope to get to it today or tomorrow. In the meantime, I will put the direct link up on the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com - under Breaking News.
Thank you rachelle for bringing it to our attention.
