Well, It's New Years Eve and DH has been asleep since 7:00pm. Told him we were going to a movie...but he forgot and put his PJ's on...and went to bed. :(

Same here...no plans to go out other than watch that glass ball slide down in NYC on TV. DH just asked what day it is tomorrow.
Sadder still he had me take him to a store..jewelry store...where he selected something for a Christmas gift..really nice too and also a little something for my birthday which was day before yesterday..When he saw me wear my Christmas gift, he asked me when I got that. I told him " you gave that to me for Christmas" his reply," funny I don't remember it..well it sure is nice".
But ask a history question or ask about aviation and he is spot on..strange huh!

This is such a strange disease isn't it. Living the life of 90 at 54 I am.

    Sherri,

Thank you for your welcome on your other thread.

Here I am, pretty much like Christmas Day and Christmas Eve, as well as my birthday which is earlier in December.

How I used to love this time of year. I am still happy for happy people. I see them walking their dogs because I pass by a lot of trails (quite a different word from trials, no?) and I see them hug and appreciate the crisp air. I am happy for them and remember a time when the New Year meant a better year and can only reconcile myself that for H there are no more happy years.

Time does not cure anything; it just passes.

You are so right. But, may this New Year be better for us caregivers who are continuing to give our best effort every day and night. Our loved ones will never remember again so many things we shared together. But we still have those wonderful memories and we must never forget them. As each year is renewed we know it may be the last we have together with our loved one....let all of us try a little harder, if we can, to make this the best one there is for them. But, never let that goal be our only reason for living...we must live for ourselves...therefore,let us also find the way this year to make it better for ourselves. May you all have a Happy New Year.

New Years Day here down under..had a lovely lunch with DS#1 and family, we only see them 3-4 times a year. I think they got quite a shock to see how much DH had declined...Dh just sat and listened, didn't say much at all, what he did say was just mumbled bits of nothing..
Here's to better 2012...well as good as it can be.

I ditto what JudithKB wrote...we need a life too!

Thanks to everyone who has been so kind this past year. Have the best new year you can under these circumstances.

Flo39- I a so sorry you are such a funk. But this is a safe place to to vent. If it helps I feel the same way. Just lost everything in 2011, bankruptcy, foreclosure, had all the losses I can handle, the worst is going through it by yourself, not having those arms to hold us. Vent when ever you want. We are here for you.

Our New Year's Eve was in bed by 10. I didn't want to watch the NYC ball come down, since we can't listen to the music of Guy Lombardo any more. Does anyone out there remember him?
