Ok, everyone..Christmas is just a few days away and I am having a party...Got some decorations up and will get an earthmover to get the rest of the clutter out of the way..I want to have a get together on Wed, here at Joan's..So how about it!?
We have to dress for the event and I am going to have on my sweater that has a Christmas Tree and it has bells on it so you will hear me jingle everywhere. But I am NOT a great cook so I need potluck..I will have eggnog and southern comfort on hand...and maybe some fudge and some cookies you know the crinkle kind that has powered sugar on em. But when it comes to the hot dishes I am a washout..just don't have that ability to do anything other than store bought meatballs...
So who can come and help out?

Oh and I do have a piano so we can all gather around to sing carols...whatdaya say?

I make terrific Polish bread to go with the Polish sausage Shirley is bringing. I don't have a Christmas-themed sweater so a plain red one will have to do.

Oh yes..and I plan to have a little bubbly on hand...we will want to toast our LOs too, those with us and those who are "well" again..we must include them too......but I am getting a " sitter" for the evening since I do need a bit of free time....if you know what I mean...

Ok, Ok. Perhaps I missed it. Since nobody offered, I'll bring really good Champagne and the glasses and everyone can keep their Crystal glass! The Champagne is soooo good you can drink all you want and never have a headache. It will go well with all types of cookies, polish bread, goose, sweet potatoes and it will cure the thirst from that spiral ham! Hic UP!
  17.
We are getting there! Thank goodness no one has mentioned fruitcake...!!!

    Mary75,
The term Polish Bread is just a name for bread that is a popular bread made by people from, I think, a certain area in Poland. My own family and my husband's family, fortunately, make bread that is very similar. It's a yeast bread made with butter, sour cream, golden raisins, eggs, sugar, flour and milk. It's something that is very special, usually made at Christmastime and Easter, and it just wouldn't be Christmas without this bread and pierogi. One of my daughters and my granddaughter have been taught how to make it so when I can't make it, the family will still have it because they will continue this tradition. Our big celebration is on Christmas Eve and we will be sure to have lots of Polish bread.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I've been busy baking cookies, four batches today, four more batches tomorrow, and I will be happy to bring some to the Alzheimer Spouse Christmas party.
  25.
Well been working on getting the hall decorated and I am pooped. Got the tree up and some bells on the door..red on the front door and some pointsettieas too..Got to get the dusting and hoovering done...the place should look good for the party tomorrow...Oh picked up some nice holiday napkins too and paper plates so we won't have too many dishes..and the green and red tumblers for drinks are pretty too..almost look like real crystal gobblets..
  26.

SORRY I ran out of Eggnog..nuts...It is almost time for Santa to come..in oooppssss I just saw my sentry lights come on..I bet he is out there now with those reindeer and...oh nuts it was the neighbor's cat..or or did he turn himself into a cat cuz I was not in bed counting sugar plums dancing in my head? I better go get the biscotti and something warm to drink out on the coffee table and then turn the lights out..Do you think I might actually get a peek at Santa? HO HO HO, Merry Christmas and God Bless Us One And All!!!
  30.
Mimi--from your last post, it sounds like the reason you ran out of eggnog was that you were hitting it hard (haha--don't blame you, I would too)!
