There is not much I like about this holiday season (except for the REAL reason we should celebrate) but I do like to get the Christmas cards and my Paul has been looking at them over and over said he liked having "friends". So I was wondering if anyone would like to do a Christmas card exchange? I do not mind giving out my address on here. Just a thought. Hope all have a peaceful day.

bak lovely idea but maybe joan can come up with a post to do it here online and no specific personal info exchanged. thats NOT a good idea to list any addresses or real names etc anywhere in cyber land. we have had several trolls here at times, but i do like the idea. ps my DH loves to look at the xmas cards too.

I would like this too. I do not do Facebook...so I don't know how we can exchange. I just love you all so, and want to include a couple bites of coconut candy too.
  3.
Coco do you have an e-mail address? If so we could exchange real addresses that way. Would love to try the coconut candy.

bak, can he look at the computer if I were to e-mail a Christmas card? Would be happy to.

I would like to share something with you I did for Kathryn, We got a card a couple of weeks ago and she carried that cards for days. She loved it. So last week I went to the store and got cards that play Christmas carols and some that talk or sing. I have been sending her one every couple of days and she carries them around opening them during the day. She just loves those cards. She will show them to me every so often and if a friend comes over she will show them the cards also. These cards are making her so happy. If I don't get another thing for Christmas I will already have gotten everything I want just watching Kathryn.

I have also started counting down the days until Christmas with her each morning and she gets excited each time I tell her how many days are left. She forgets it a few minutes later but that's ok. I also told her tonight that we are going shopping for Christmas gifts this week end for each other and she is excited about that. We will go tomorrow and I will pick out the gifts but that is ok because Christmas morning when we open them and I thank her for the gifts and she will beam with joy.

It will be a wonderful Christmas.

Kathryn is fortunate to have you in her life, Jim. Sometimes it takes so little to put joy in someone's life. And the rewards are amazing.

    Have a Wonder filled Christmas.

jim sometimes its the little things that give the most joy.My DH is late stage but does enjoy those singing cards as well. earlier times he would open and close the cards hundreds of times/day. its good to see them get a bit of joy with so much taken from them. speaking of cards, i had a very wonderful surprise happen as well. i was digging in my DH work drawer for something and came across a xmas card addressed to me in the very back. i go thru drawer regularly but guess i overlooked it. it has no date, no year. but DH wrote it himself and addressed it to me. you can imagine my surprise when i saw it. it was a card expressing his gratefullness and love for taking care of him and keeping him in his beloved home as long as possible. i can only think it some sort of divine intervention that i should find it at xmas so many years later. it could be as old as 10yrs+. it will remain one of my most treasured possessions.

Top 10 ideas for things to write in your christmas cards:

Number 10. (Your spouses name) remembered you asking us for dinner. That's so kind. How does Tuesday sound?

Number 9. We haven't heard from you for so long and hope you're doing well. I wanted to let you know I'm accepting sealed bids to NOT have your number autoprogrammed into the new phone (your spouses name) is getting for christmas.

Number 8. (Your spouses name) has been missing you so long he/she has asked to move in with you so as not to forget you. Isn't that sweet? Let us know when would be convenient. Merry Christmas.

Number 7. Merry Christmas. Wanted to let you know (your spouses name) has appreciated all your advice so much he wants to change his/her guardianship to you. The bank seems very relieved. Call me.

Number 6. Boo! Must be terrifying to get mail from us. I wonder if we can ask you a big favor? Just kidding. Merry Christmas. Do let us know if the hairs stood up on the back of your neck.

Number 5. Put $500 in a plain brown bag on our back porch and I will stop telling (your spouses name) you're hoping for a visit again every single day. It's completey up to you. Seasons greetings!

Number 4. We haven't had time to keep in touch for so long I feel awful. Life has been so hectic since that lottery thing but that's no excuse. Poor (spouses name here). We just can't spend it fast enough but we're trying. It's funny how life changes. Hope all is well with you. Happy holidays.

Number 3. I know I've been badgering you children to come and see your (father/mother) but in the true sense of the holiday spirit I want you to know that I do understand that you have to try to get as much life in as possible before your own children abandon you when you need them. Merry christmas!

Number 2. We girls have to stick together. As you know (your spouses name) has AD and while I don't know exactly what (their spouses name - closest connection) has, it's clearly serious since she/he's as white as a sheet and having visible trouble with motor skills whenever we see you running away. I've enclosed matching running shoes and raybans to help. Merry christmas!

And the Number 1 christmas card idea. May your heart find moments of joy through your journey of love and may your soul find moments of fullness through your acts of compassion and giving. May you laugh occasionally and smile sometimes and sometimes even be touched yourself by your own devotion to the shelter of others in need.

Wolf--they are all good, but my favorite of your suggestions is number 3--love the passive/aggressive vibe.
  7.
Wolf, I have felt sadder today than usual. Divvi's post made me cry. Your post got me laughing. I especially love number 2.

Since the message boards aren't set up to handle pictures, and I firmly discourage EVERYONE from posting personal e-mails and addresses here, I would suggest going to the Alzspouse group on Facebook, post picture Christmas cards up there with whatever you want to say on them, and show them to your spouses. Contact Charlotte to join Alzspouse on Facebook. It is a closed group.
