Thanksgiving has come and gone and we survived!!! Paul did very well even with all the people and confusion going on.
I was exhausted from just worring about everything,so I am glad it is over.Grandkids spent the night(18 & 21) he even enjoyed having them here. Hope all of you had a pleasant day also.
Now to just get through Dec.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner with our daughter, her husband and 2 teen-age boys. My wife didn't interact with them, but seemed to enjoy watching them. Today, while my wife was at day care, I went out with daughter, etc. to cut our Christmas trees (one for us and one for them). They will be joining us for dinner tonight at our retirement Inn.

I'm now trying to straighten out our older daughter's flight from Chicago for Christmas. The airline changed her return, adding an extra stop. She can't call them since she is in Viet Nam and won't be back until Dec. 12. At least I can communicate with her by e-mail. Even the most remote hotels seem to have WiFi.

We managed. Lots of extended family at my mom's last night. It was a big change, compared to other gatherings in recent memory, how fast Jeff ran out of steam. Luckily I live only a couple miles down the road from my mom, so I was able to take Jeff home and put him to bed by 7. Since a couple of my daughters came home shortly thereafter, I went back and visited with folks for a while longer.

There's a definite shift in what we can expect to be able to do for holidays now. On the basis of Thanksgiving, I now know that I can invite Jeff's brother, sis-in-law, and kids over for a VERY casual mid-day meal on Christmas, but having them stay for more than a couple hours is out.

Thanksgiving can be a very sad time. A reminder of what was-never to be again. I did feel blessed by the family and friends I still have and love.

Yes bluedaze,it can be a sad reminder -my dh always loved Thanksgiving week, not because of the turkey-but because here in WV it is deer hunting season and he and his family always hunted together. He looked forward to that time all year long. Now he knows the season is here but he did not mention anything about going out. He has never even asked what happened to his guns etc. Guess that is a good thing. But when I think about it,I am saddened to think that another great joy in his life is gone.

Just another day - nothing different. My daughter-in-law called but only cause she has been in the hospital. they first thought maybe lupus but that did not prove to be. She has had repeated strep and had it again. the doctors think it went into her joints = walking is very painful. she is home now = we were going to go down there and help but she the kids seem to be co-operating.

We actually went to two different family members homes to celebrate this year. My dh did very well. Of course the family knew he was going to walk allover, and they tried to keep the noise level down as much as possible with kids being there. After the meal the kids were sent upstairs to play, which they loved and so did the adults. My dh did enjoy the kids tho..... he loves kids and animals. I had to talk to him at one point to calm him down but it went well. I am so thankful things went so smooth because I had doubts about going because of the large number of people at one of the gatherings. But he did awsome.
