Calling all animal lovers. Sid and I just came home from seeing Dolphin Tale. He said he didn't want to see it, but since I have had to sit through horrible movies that he wanted to see, I told him he had to go with me. It was the best movie I have seen in ages. I loved it. It was especially good because it's a true story. For those unfamiliar with it - it's about an injured dolphin, who had to have her tail amputated due to a severe injury, and how, through the efforts of a young boy who helped rescue her, a man who makes prosthetic limbs for humans, made a prosthetic tail for her. It is such an uplifting story. Sid loved it, by the way. Now that we have been home for an hour, I'm sure he's forgotten it, but he enjoyed it while he was watching it.

The dolphin's name is Winter, and she played herself in the movie. Great story.

thanks for posting how good the movie was. I want to go see this too but dh could not sit still thru the movie so I guess we will rent it when it comes out. So glad to hear Sid enjoyed it. I do know my dh enjoys any movie about animals or nature. Isn't it great when we can do something that they enjoy and they can relay this either in words or actions. Hopeing you are having a great weekend.

Is the movie based on a book? I would love to read it before I see it. Living in an isolated area as I do...it might be a year before we can rent the movie. We have to drive 47 miles to see a movie in a theater!

    Grannywhiskers,

It is a book for reading level of ages 4 and up called "Winter's Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again". Amazon carries it.

Joann- not sure if you know, but Winter lives at the st pete/clearwater aquarium. I went with my granddaughter, and now we will be planning to see him live in person.

A friend and I just saw this wonderful movie. After spending my last birthday with the stranded pilot whales in Key Largo it was even better to see.
