Trick or Treat Day is looming and once it is gone, then we have to think about Thanksgiving Day. This brings to mind the fact that many of us may not be going anywhere, for obvious reasons, so we need to think about our party here at Joan's place.
Since there are so many of us, we need a huge buffet, don't you think? So I suggest we start to plan something here.....kind of like our Memorial Day Picnic. What do you say? We can also put out a giant bowl into which we can put some little note about something we are thankful for in our lives. As hard as life is with our situations, there are blessings tucked in there someplace..
So, since some are better cooks than others, some better at decorating, what do you think? It will be what we make it.

I wasn't here on Memorial Day so don't know the proceeder but let me know this sounds like fun and I surely need more fun in my life. Count me in I'll be watching to see what to do.

Traditions change. My kids and I love smoked turkey. Husband did not. Now that he is gone we will have a smoked turkey with all the trimmings. What part of the turkey would you like me to bring? I also make a killer apple caramel pie that I will donate. Can someone please bring the pecan ice cream for the top?

    bluedaze,
Consider it done.I'll be there with bells on.And bells makes me think of Christmas.Oh no,I'm really pushing it.
  3.
We are over-run with wild turkeys, so I could bring one, or more, to take us back to the Pilgrims.
  4.
marsh-are you going to run over the turkey and bring us road kill? If so I will try to run over an armadillo :0)
  5.
Running over one, or more, would be easy. I have often had to stop to wait for them to get out of the road.
    What does armadillo taste like???
  6.
I'll bring my lucious Rum Sweet Potato Casserole; and the pecan ice cream for bluedaze*'s apple caramel pie!
  7.
Well, I can bring the other kind of "Wild Turkey"....the one in the bottle....LOL!
  8.
My DD makes a great pumpkin cheesecake. We will bring that and I will bring a real pumpkin and fall leaves for the table.

Sandi* your Wild Turkey sounds great! Save me a glass :)

My how I hate that I won't be able to join you all this year....
I am going to be the real Turkey this year...going to have my
own birthday cake..first time in 35 years I have had a birthday cake...everyone always says .."no need for a cake we have all these pies"...too bad your birthday is so close to Thanksgiving..well..this year it can't get any closer..24th is the big day. This year is different...I get my own cake with candles. It will be a real New York cheesecake...which I requested.
  10.
I am in-I will bring the pumpkin rolls and raisin filled cookies, these are always favorite at our house.
  11.
I can bring asparagus casserole we grow our own which I put in the freezer for occasions such as this.
  12.
Got to bring some peas and carrots too...the mashed potatoes sound yummy. My niece makes the best cheesecake too..and I always bring brownies with cream cheese frosting...something a little different. And I can toss in some home made cressent rolls too..
I think we should get some nice festive Thanksgiving paper plates ( strong of course) so we won't have so many dishes to do after.
  13.
Since I am not the best of cooks...I will bring the strong paper plates...and a fruit salad! I can hardly wait to taste these dishes.
  14.
Don't want to miss this party. Could I bring some southern sweet tea and a pot of decaf coffee?
  15.
Dazed, the sweet tea will be good - but I need leaded coffee. LOL

Aw - wild turkey means lots of dark meat!!
  17.
I do not cook, but I can bring cans of cranberry sauce. I will even open them and slice it!
  18.
Wow our dinner party is starting to come together nicely. We should invite Joan but she doesn't have to bring anything,,just her appetite since she does so much...she can be Pilgrimette for a day!
  19.
And please no pro football just as everything is ready to eat!!
  20.
I can bring some fresh sliced fresh coconut candy, and also a dragon fruit salad.
  21.
I think dragon fruit is beautiful. What do you do with it?
  22.
I am growing it now, it is the new and upcoming rage on Hawaii island!

I just like to chill it and slice it fresh. There are many varieties, the yellow and pink taste the best.

Then, the most beautiful one, the flesh is deep dark purple. It does not taste as sweet as the others, but makes a beautiful smoothie or blended drink. Your pee comes out bright pink!

It is almost a bit like a giant kiwi.
  23.
I think I'll bring some killer brownies which I frost with cream cheese frosting..yumm
  24.
    Can we just EAT now?????
  25.
no..the anticipation is exceeded only by the actual event!! we have to wait...and no finger poking into the frosting!!!
  26.
The one thing I found not on the list - WINE - I'll bring it, and a corkscrew too! <grin>
  27.
Gosh I haven't been on here for quite awhile but I would love to join you all for Thanksgiving dinner this year. How about I bake some pumpkin cookies (with cream cheese frosting). Looks like the wild turkey(s) and wine has been taken care of!

Okay, being from Alabama I'll bring my favorite "Vermont" Apple, Raisin, Nut Slaw and my Bacardi Rum Cake. This Thanksgiving dinner sounds better than bacon and eggs that I had last year. I am also going to try to put a smile on my face.
  28.
Oh we are all going to have to go on a massive diet before Christmas...!!! I won't go near a scale for fear of gaining wt just reading the menu!
  29.
Bless you Bama. Hopefully after Sat. you will have that big smile for sure. (trusting you know what I mean, if not maybe a smile anyway for a while.)
  30.
Bama is a big Tide's fan and I'm a Razorback...we pull for each other unless our teams are playing....hers won this year! GO TIDE! GO HOGS!

flo, I know what you mean and Mary is right we do pull for each other's team. Football is not as much fun as it use to be because DH no longer knows what is going on. We will hear from ol don on this Alabama/LSU game. Roll Tide Roll....
  31.
Ours is the crimson and cream of OKLAHOMA! Probably blew their chance to play either Bama or LSU. It is fun diversion for me.
