Last night my DH got up from the couch and walked about 15 feet to the TV when he got there he looked strange and bent over a little and took hold of the table next to the TV and I was right next to him on the computer and called his name, he didn't answer so I got up and put my hand on his arm and called him two or three more times and he was unresponsive but had his eyes open but it was like he was frozen. I helped him get back to the couch and took his blood pressure, it was 113/55 and pulse was 89, that is pretty good for him. I asked him what it felt like that happened to him and he said it felt like he had passed out with his eyes open standing up. I asked him if he had been dizzy and he said no. What do you think it could have been? This morning he was acting like it had never happened but I can tell that he remembers it because he is afraid to take steps from the couch to the wall.

could have been a TIA or a stroke. i'd call the dr on monday and let them know. bp is a tad low.

    Deb42657....

My mother was plagued with these "spells". I can't tell you the number of times I took her to the ER only to be told it was not a stroke. I finally told myself it must be poor circulation. Doctors really suspected flow blood in her neck arteries didn't flow properly for a short time. Some things just don't have an explanation. I would suggest you tell your doctor and let him decide how to treat it. May not happen again.

deb, DH has done similar several times. Only difference is, DH doesn't remember anything about it. Our Dr. thinks it's TIA's and I do too. His BP is always good even after one of these episodes.
  3.
Deb-it could even be a small seizure. Not unusual with AD.

deb42657, we had an experience a few months ago. We were at our son’s house getting ready for bed, DH was in the bathroom & I went to check on him & as he got up from the toilet his legs became wobbly & he had a blank look on his face. He stumbled out of the bathroom & started to fall so I helped him to the bedroom & onto the bed. His eyes started to roll back & I kept asking him if he was alright (duh!). Then I told him not to leave me. I was getting ready to go & get our son when all of a sudden he snapped out of it. He seemed fine after that & I really didn’t notice anything wrong. I had no idea what had happened. The next day I got together with 2 friends that are actually from here, bak & lmohr & I told them what happened & they thought it that he might have had a TIA & after I thought about it, it sounded logical. It hasn’t happened again.

Sounds like an Absence seizure. My husband had them in the early stage, he could speak if asked a question, however, it was kind of in slow motion. The next day he would be fine. He did start to have more episodes & was placed on Lamictal.

My DH had one of these while sitting in the Dr's waiting room...scared me, he was just lifeless, stared out in space. mouth wide open.. like he was frozen in time for a few moments. They took him to the back room checked everthing, ECG, Bp, etc..found nothing.
Then had another one 4 months later, his Dr thinks it's seizure. What if it happens while driving, the Dr's told him he should not drive, but he won't listen..
Dh doesn't remember any of it. My DD googled it and came up with Aprixia...would that be right!

I think it was a stroke also! The only reason why I think it is(besides what I found out here) because I told someone at church today the same thing and they said it before I even finished explaining. I want to look up the absence seizure though. Thank you so much for being here to help me through this journey. I still have so much to learn and I have been on this journey for almost 3 years now.

    Yes, Bama

    Slight misspell:

FUGUE - A pathological amnesiac condition during which one is apparently conscious of one's actions but has no recollection of them after returning to a normal state. This condition, usually resulting from severe mental stress, may persist for as long as several months.

Had one of those episodes and it was very scary. It happened at the grocery store. I didn't know where I was and nothing looked familiar. I made my way to the check out counter, wrote a check, found my way out and drove a mile home. Had all kinds of test and nothing showed up. I do remember what happened but at the time I felt like I was in a dream like setting and needed to wake up.

No, it doesn't sound like that but ya never know. If it happens again I think I will call the 24 hour nurse. Hospice came by today unexpectantly and I told them about it and they didn't say what it was but they did ask me about his parkinson's at the same time so, I am thinking they are thinking it was not a stroke but I still think it was. We'll see!!!
