Odors here and there have been covered - or uncovered however you want to interpret...HB peed in the floor vent in the bathroom. I've washed as far down the "pipes" as I can w/: soap and water, vinegar & water, bleach and water, Woolite for pet odors. Replaced the floor grill. Still a bit of an odor. I suppose the last resort is to replace the tubing. Preventive suggestion is an air deflector, which I've "installed." Of course the "peeing in the home vent" is no longer a problem as hb is in the "special unit" at the local care center. Now they're cleaning the air conditioner units (he's not particular in whose room he goes), using bleach water. Hope it works, but do any of my cyber friends have other suggestions?
Saw one of the male residents at DH's ALF urinating on a threshhold this afternoon. Staff cleaned it up immediately. Made me wonder, do female dementia patients do anything like this? Don't think I've heard of it.
Yes, at the ALF my husband was in, a lady done her business: in the hallway, on other residents beds, even started to in the living room area at a Thanksgiving supper for all family members of residents.
Zibby, I just kept scrubbing away and spraying with deodorizer until the smell went away....it took a while. At first I blamed it on the cats. My husband would pee in a vent, a trash can, a laundry basket, or just about anywhere except in a toilet.
It was one of the most challenging stops along the route...!
Ozone will break it down and if you were close to me I would loan you a machine that produces it. There is probably a bend in the tube where a puddle collected and it will take time. As suggested about, you could contact someone to come in and either clean it or replace the section.
