DH's birthday was this week and he wouldn't believe me when I told him he was 67. So I started going backwards, and when I reached 40, he said yes. I'm wondering if the numbers even mean anything to him (as a concept).

In his mind, he's probably in his 40's! Up until a month ago, DH could always tell me how old he was and his birthday (not mine though). But now he asks me every day how old he is. When I tell him 88, he can't believe it! Regressing into a younger time.

My dh was trying really hard to figure out his date of birth. He knew how old he was on his birthday, but he couldn't figure out how and what numbers you need to use to get his date of birth.

DH thinks he's 5 years younger than he is. Whenever I ask, he says he's 56. He's been 56 for 3 years.

I'm not sure if my husband knows how old he is. He turned 62 in September and he had no clue it was his birthday. His speech is very impaired and I'm not sure what he still understands. So sad.

My husband knows that he is 58. He feels, however, that 58 is quite old and that he is going to die soon. Practically every conversation is centered around how soon he is going to die. He tells me that the weight he has lost (we are eating healther) is a sign that he is very ill and will die, he is stacking our fire wood so that when he dies I will have plenty of wood, etc.

Sorry if this got a little bit off topic.

    Mary!!

He knows. Sometimes he's off by a year. I just asked him and he said 63. I reminded him that I sang "When I'm 64" to him at his birthday last month.
It's partly a PCA vs classic AD thing though, that he doesn't get lost in time so much. It's more that he can't do anything that takes visual processing. (and almost everything, once you experience it, takes visual processing.)

DH doesnt have a clue how old he is or better -hasnt cared in years which in a way is a blessing. worse, is ,he smiles and says some sort of jibberish when i tell him how old I AM now!! HA! that surely surprises both of us. considering i was 39 when we met. sigh.

My husband's standard answer for a few years has been 39--he knows he can't remember how old but feels he has to give an answer. He can still give his birthdate, but has no clue what year this is and could not do the math anyway. He is 81.

My DH will soon be 80. He thinks he is 58. It is therefore impossible that his son could be 50. "That would mean he was born when I was 8 yrs old." We don't know what we are talking about.

Strabge how we perceive ourselves regarding age. My dh knows he is 85 and seems eager to tell everyone. To hear him, you would think very few people live to 85 therefore he has always lived right and is never sick. Oh brother.

My DH thinks he's a couple of years older than his 72 years...I wonder what he'll say in a few months time, as he gets worse...don't want to think about it, but it's going to happen.

Mine knows he is 62, but he always say, I am an old man now and that is why he is unwell..
I tell him, YOU ARE NOT OLD..
I think it may be his way of having an "excuse' to have this horrid disease.
