Has anyone heard of this new clinical trial on an injectable drug ACC-001? DH is to far along to participate, but just wondering if there's more info any of you may have. Here's a link to the clinical trial, but not info on the drug itself.
I think this is the trial that I put under Breaking News on the home page - It is titled "Recruitment for Alzheimer's Clinical Trial in South Florida".
Elan pharmaceuticals had a vaccine trial for AN1792 that was halted in 2002 becuase 11% of those receiving the vaccine developed encephalitis.
This ACC-001 is their latest vaccine - which they hope will not have that side effect.
Interesting....because I believe that first vaccine was the one where they found it did remove the beta-amyloid plaques (good news), but did NOT result in improved cognition (bad news). And at one point the FDA came out with a ruling that a successful trial (one that would be allowed to go forward) had to show improvement of symptoms - not just removal of plaques...

I am most interested in the findings of the Israel group. It found their method would reverse back to 2 years cognition and could keep it. I hope they can see the same results with more testing.
