Terry54, thanks for asking about me. I am finally back at my computer after being without power for almost 2 days (from Saturday night until about 3 hours ago). We live on a wooded lot with quite a few large trees & some old tall pine trees. The worst of the rain & wind was Saturday night & I lay in bed listening to the wind rip through the trees & heard the trees swaying. I didn’t sleep much & too be truthful I was waiting for one of those trees to come crashing through my roof. Thankfully that didn’t happen, but when all was said & done we did have a tree fall towards the house, but it wasn’t tall enough to reach the house & it just came to rest on our back fence. My wonderful neighbor, his son & grandson have already cut it up & taken it away. We also have a lot of branches & tree debris lying around the property which I will start cleaning up tomorrow. My daughters were my towers of strength. My daughter who lives across the street (who was also without power the same amount of time as us) grilled dinner for us last night & our other daughter who lives 10 minutes away (& only lost power for a few hours) had us over for pizza tonight). Of course DH was confused through all of this. I had to continually explain why we didn’t have lights. It’s hard to do anything when you are sitting in the dark & as most of you know sometimes it’s just not worth starting a conversation when you end up trying to explain what you are talking about. So now tomorrow back to normal (whatever that is!) Again, thanks for asking.

Thanks Mary*! One thing I forgot to say, I was scared, REALLY SCARED (& I don't scare easily) & for the first time my DH didn't, or should I say couldn't, comfort me or make me feel safe, because he had no idea of the danger that we were in. He saw the rain & wind, but his brain couldn't process the danger of it all. So sad :o(

We are all okay. We lost power for 28 hrs, arghhh. We also lost 3 trees in the backyard, but none fell onto the house. I feel blessed that we are all safe & dry. Many are still without power, the start of school has been postponed for the second day..... so all in all not bad.

Elaine H .....wonderful to hear your safe and sound. As I watch the news I kept hearing your area and prayed you and your Husband were safe and sound. It was a very scarey Saturday night !!! Susan L oh my 28 hours .....long time without power and the blessing no trees hitting your house. We lost power part of the time a mini-generator saved my basement from flooding. 3 Sump pumps working all through the night. Like you ElaineH no sleep. Hubbie couldn't help or comprehend the danger either and he tried real hard to stay out of my way while I hung the extention cords, started the generator etc. I was 5 minutes from the basement going under. An exhausting experience, but as Susan said ...all in all not bad we are all still standing :)

We were lucky in SC. We had heavy rain just about all day and night here in SC but we never lost power. DH would check every hour and seemed surprised it was still raining. He also asks every day if it is cold outside. We have lived here for 21 years and I have never known it to be cold in August.
