Usually it is us down here in Florida who are in the path of violent hurricanes. This time it is all of you from the Carolina's to New England on the Eastern Seaboard who are in Irene's path.

There is a comprehensive guide on Hurricane Preparedness for a household in which someone has dementia - it is on the home page - www.thealzheimerspouse.com - on the left side where all of the resources are located. It has a picture of a hurricane on it, and it is titled Disaster Preparation.

Please take advantage of this valuable resource.

My mommy almost scared me to death of storms. She would gather all five of us around and pray. It may have been a comfort to her but as a child it worried me that something bad was going to happen.

My daughter is terrified of storms (she's 29 now). When she was about 5 or 6 she spent the night with my husband's sister and there was a bad thunderstorm. She took all the kids with her and sat in the tub for the duration of the storm. It really freaked our daughter out. Ever since then she hates storms.

My daughter said she and her husband are going to sit on their enclosed porch where they can watch the storm and how it is affecting the water in the bay. I don't think they're going to sit in their hot tub!!!!!
