I've heard of hospice as being care for late stage alzheimers, so I'm just wondering.
I asked for someone to check on hubby because he continues to chew on his food
long after the meal is over. Now they are sending out people from hospice to see
him. He's also resisting changing and bathing. Do they think he's failing?

It sounds to me like they are sending someone to check on him (evaluate him for hospice approval is what you mean?) because you asked them to. In our case it was a nurse, and she approved him immediately, I think because of weight loss. His neuro says he has at least 2 to 5 more years to live; don't panic and assume they think he is failing. It sounded to me like our hospice needed patients (an aide told me their census is down) and so he got a quick approval.

Thank you for your response. Sorry I didn't get back to this thread right away. Yes, I got upset over nothing. It was just for the check on his eating problem, nothing more. The nurse we talked to said they were from Home Health, not Hospice. I jumped to conclusions because she said she had to see me and it would take about 45 minutes to fill out the paperwork. I had a good visit with hubby today and he is doing fine considering.
