i thought it may be a nice idea to start a custom of a CELEBRATION MONTH for us as caregivers. as we can see many of us have birthdays, anniversaries, births, if you share a special day in August place it here! you can receive joy, smiles, pats on the back, and a bit of cheer from those here who understand its lonely sometimes. once august is done we can do sept etc.

    who has anniversary and birthdays??
  1.
27th anniversary tomorrow. Just another footstep in this long pathway to nowhere. I have four hours respite tomorrow; thought I'd take myself to the movies as a treat. Hope I can find something worth watching.

Denny well happy 27th to you tomorrow! at least those of us here understand. i hadnt been to a movie in a while, and took my grandkids to see the planet of the apes. omg it was so much fun! i was on the edge of my seat the whole time.. great fun. even my 94yr old mom enjoyed it. of course each has their own criteria for a movie, hope you enjoy your respite!

    Happy birthday to Shirley's DH
I know these special days may not seem very special anymore to a lot of us. However, you all deserve a pat on the back, stars in your crown and kudos for the things you do. Love you all.

We could start planning a picnic for Labor Day.

Where do you have a pity party? I vote for Blawnox, PA - always sounded like a depressing place.
  8.
I'll bring the Limoncello for bama.
  9.
August 25th would have been Diane's 49th birthday.

August 26th would have been our 50th wedding anniversary. He missed making it by two months and 16 days. (Yes, I spent my first wedding anniversary in the hospital having had Diane the day before!) <grin>

I want Limoncello with Bama, Bluedaze! Good topic, Divvi!

I am celebrating the birth of another healthy grandchild, born last week. This is number 12 for us. Unfortunately it may be some time before I see her in person as they are over 1200 miles away. Just thanking God for her safe arrival.

Happy Birthday to me!!!!! I told DH lastnight that today was my birthday and we would be going out for dinner. Of course he's all for it....he'll go anywhere if there is food somewhere in the trip! I don't expect him to remember until I remind him to get ready to go eat. He did ask yesterday if I had bought something for myself and I told him I didn't need anything and he said I should get myself something. BTW I am 72 and hoping I have more years left in me. lol.

Happy Birthday Jean! May you have many more! My birthday was on the 9th. OF course my DH didn't remember, but my daughter who lives across the street sent me a plant from her & her husband, a stuffed animal (dog) from the grandkids & flowers from her father. When the flowers from "Tom" were delivered I really didn't know who sent them (cuz it was a sure bet that he didn't!) but then I realized that they were from our daughter. The other kids called & our other daughter is having us over today for a belated birthday dinner, so all in all it was a pretty nice birthday. BUT the best part is I turned 62 so in October I get my first social security check! YAHOOOOOOO!

Elaine, It was nice of your daughter to remember your birthday in 3 ways! I don't have children so there is no way to get anything that way. lol. DH remembered we are going out for dinner but apparently not why.
Don't spend all of your SS check in one place!!!!!
