WOW!! Quite a history and quite a success. I never would have made it if not for this site and the friendships I have made. It helps so much to know we are not alone. Who but us can know the fear, anger, desperation and hopelessness that we all endure. Thank you, Joan.
I agree bluedaze. Like you, I am still here, in the after. Congratulations Joan. I support you and your efforts. I recommend this site in the local Support Group I Facilitate. Those of you expressing loneliness.....It is lonely before and it is lonely after....The only solution I know of is to get yourself out of the house and find some interesting worthwhile "cause" to apply yourself...There..you will be appreciated.
I agree with the others. After I found this site my burdens did not seem so heavy. I live in a very small town and we have NO resources to turn to. Thank you Joan for taking your ideas to a website! It helps many of us.
All I know about this terrible desease I learned from all of you caring people. Thank you. Joan, for this site and thank all of you who have become my family.
Yep, this is simply the single best site for people like us to learn, ask questions, share information, vent, etc. with others who just plain 'get it' because although our boats may all be somewhat different we are all paddling in the same lake. Joan ... none of us can ever thank you enough for what you have done for all of us, from your insightful blogs to the postings of so much information to the message boards. Please continue to get completely well soon!! Allan
Joan, thank you for all that you do. I have learned so much since I found your site.
A big thank you to everyone who share their own experiences. It helps so much to know that I have a place to go where I can find information and support from other caregivers.
Bless you for having the willingness and foresight to start this and to hang on. I can't imagine getting through each day with out LO doing what they do and still spending time to minister to the needs of others. Look at all the friends you've made!!!!! Blessings.
I didn't know what I would find when your site was recommended to me. I knew I needed support of some kind, help from a source that mirrored my difficulties, unhappiness on some days but laughter and encouragement on others. I cried when members posted the death of their LO"S because I knew the spouses felt relief for their LO's but such a great loss for themselves.
The Alz spouses are the most selfless people I have ever encountered. Their every waking moment is dedicated to their LO's even after they have been placed.
This site fills a great need. Thank you so much for being here.
joan job well done. the website is a first of its kind for spouses who share a common interest which unfortunately is dementias of all sorts. its true that only spouses have many difficulties to overcome that arent shared by other AD caregivers. the issues we confront are very unique, so its a great blessing for those who find themselves in the caregiving throws of dealing with this disease on their own to find others who understand. divvi
Thanks, Joan, and all contributors who make this site so helpful to those of us on the dementia journey. By reading here, I know my difficulties aren't unique to hb & I, and often find solutions to problems.
