Well, the ailments aren't strange, it's just that they pop up at different times for just an hour or so - then they're gone! Last night around 9 p.m. after he had been in bed for 3 hours, he woke up, said he didn't feel well, asked what was wrong-he said sore throat. Had him gargle with vinegar/water - he went back to sleep with no mention of sore throat this a.m. After dinner, almost every night, while still at the table, he will say his neck hurts really bad. I'll rub it, put a little heat on it - and 10 min. later - no mention of it.

Gets in bed, says his leg hurt; I give him Tonic water with quinine - he goes right to sleep.

Almost every morning when he wakes up he says he feels "queasy". I give him a cup of coffee in bed before he gets up and 10 minutes - he isn't queasy.

Does any of your LO's do this?
I'm running out of "home remedies"!

    Vickie:

Haven't run into this yet. Could be he is just loving the attention he is getting. Give him M&M's unless he is diabetic.

Doesn't like M&M's, but I do use Tic Tacs! LOL

Maybe I should start making a list of these "home remedies" so I will be ready. I have been reading all the posts and writing down all the products that the spouses find helpful.

Have you heard about the Relaxation Brownies? Some states have banned them. Our state, Michigan, now has banned them also. I guess they are just loaded with melatonin.

Could get some 'grass' and make brownies with a little of it in there. Not too much cause that might turn to paranoia.

Or there's that...what's that stuff mothers used to feed small children to relax them back in the naive days?...laudanum, or tincture of opium. Seems almost too bad some of these old timey remedies can't be had by those in the caregiving business.

Remember paregoric (spelling??) I remember the doctor telling me with my first child to give her 2 drops. Well, dumb me didn't know that you were supposed to dilute it with water. A friend was visiting and stopped just in time.

I had to think on this one. But I think I have been able to put it together. Over the last year or so DH has had a problem with his glasses, needed two types of cleaner before they were right. Problems with his eyes, something always in them, I once ever asked if it was an eye ball, eye drops helped that. Sore throat, cough drops have helped that, (they are hiding all over the house. DH does not know that I know they are there.) Leg pain, arm pain, back pain, etc. They are all here for a few days and then gone. The only one that was real was tooth pain, I got some oraljel and he still fussed about it so we went to the dentist and he had to have 5 teeth pulled. When he fusses about something I give him something safe to take. And if it still bothers him, like the teeth. Then I do something about it. Don't know why he does it, but he does.
And this from a man who only missed 3 days of work in 30 plus years!

Somebody on this site uses tic tacs or M&Ms as medicine. Here, I am the one complaining with my back, neck, and right arm and sometimes my hands hurt. Maybe I had better stock up on some chocolate.

    Blue,
Oh my gosh,he sounds just like my DH.I think they just like the attention. You know,it's kind of like the little boy who cried wolf.

    Ann,

That is so true. Did not realize that he had teeth problems because that came in the middle of all the other aliments. Now like I said I give "tic tacs like treatment" and if pain still is there we look into it more :))

What kills me is he was never one to be sick or miss work with a sick day. NEVER!!! And now every month we have a problem, almost funny.

Oh and he now has diabetes and have to check his blood and he is forever asking if I need his blood. Before he would have had a fit with me doing that to him.
