Dh and I have a Select Comfort Sleep Number bed that we love. As dh is becoming increasingly incontinent, it is time to wrap up our bed mattress before he has an accident at night. Because these mattresses have air baffles and tubes to fill them that are attached to the mattress, I'm not sure about mattress covers. Can anyone help me - give me some up close and personal tips?? I would appreciate ALL your advice and tips and keeping things dry.

    Thanks you!!!

There are others. One of the guys here washed and dried the cover on it which resulted in shrinkage and it was not cheap to replace. Someone else washed the mattress cover that comes with it and line dried but still had some shrinkage. I am sure they will be alone to share how they are protecting it now.

I went online to read comments from those who had purchased the waterproof covers from Select Comfort. Not only very expensive, but mostly not liked at all by those who purchased. I could swallow the cost if the product was worth it - better than replacing the whole mattress.

We also have a Select Comfort Sleep Number king size. My DW is incontinent and here is what I do:

    1) I have a waterproof mattress pad over the mattress purchased @ Target
    2) Washable pad. Almost the size of a twin/single mattress. Walmart
    3) Fitted sheet
    4) Disposable underpad, 30"x36" Walmart
    5) Washable pad, 30"x36"Walmart

I know it seems like a lot, but I also want to ensure the mattress stays dry. Very rarely does the sheet get wet. The actuall waterproof mattres pad has never gotten wet. Now the sheet, blanket, comforter over her is another story. It will get wet often. So I use seperate twin/single size sheets and blankets.

Okay, let me get this straight. You basically make her side of the bed with the waterproof/washable/disposable pads - do you have 2 washable pads? Does the waterproof mattress pad cover the entire mattress and then you start adding the other layers of pads on her side only and then cover the whole thing with a fitted sheet??? Oh, also, the waterproof mattress pad - is it fitted? If so, how do you deal with the tubes to the baffles?

    Thanks for your help.

It hasn't yet been put to a serious test, but I liked this item so much: http://protectivebedding.com/premium-breathable-waterproof-mattress-cover.html
I bought one for my own bed too.

You know, the senior advisor at our Senior Center gave me this link too and I will buy this if I can figure out if it will work with the Sleep Number bed with it's tubes and baffles.

We have a Sleep Number bed and I bought the waterproof mattress cover that was guaranteed to keep stains off the bed or they would replace the bed. SO far it has worked fine. DH has drowned it a couple of times and there was no leakage. The only problem with it is that it makes a rustling sound when you move but I've gotten used to it.

My husband does use the pad from protective bedding co. on an air adjustable bed, though it is Comfortaire brand rather than Sleep Number brand.

Okay, I think I will just order the pad from Protective Bedding and get all the other pads from Target and then we'll be all set. Thank you all for your help.

DH has been having incontinence issues lately; but just the other day I added Benefibre to his 2 Immodiums/day and all seems to be going well. I still won't let him go out anywhere without his disposables, though, and he does resist putting those on. Anything new and different is a problem.
