It is getting close to the 4th of July. It has been great hanging out in Florida but is way to hot and muggy. Where are we heading off to? I still would like to move west - Harrison Hot Springs sounds great.
Let's get it nailed down and start moving ladies and gents!!
Sorry-I can't join you in cooler climes. July 4th and 5th are birthdays here. Daughter will be diving for lobsters and then we head for Key Largo to take a shift caring for the two remaining stranded whales. 30 beached. 2 were successfully released. A baby and a juvenile are the only two still alive. The rest either died or were euthanized. Very sad.
I think P.E.I. would be lovely this time of year. July 1 is a Canadian holiday so we could still celebrate. Or northern Maine if you don't have a passport.
marsh-I had lunch at The New England Fish House and brought home some real lobster claws. Awesome. I'll think of you in Feb. while you're driving on ice and I'm sitting by the pool.
Well you could all think about the central coast of CA where we have had an unusually cool summer..even when the sun has been out there have been strong breezes and we actually need jackets here..course the fire works display each year can be iffy if we have that fog.... Our town is celebrating it's 100th birthday this year..might be kinda fun..we have beaches, golf courses, hiking etc here...ya might like it...
Prince Edward Island is where we went for our honeymoon. Was beautiful and we had a fantastic time! We always intended to go back, but life kept getting in the way. We promised we would go back for our 25th, but by then Lynn was in a nursing home .... *sigh*
bluedaze*, if my daughter has her way, I'll be in Florida for at least a few days in Feb. She just retired, and will be spending Jan, Feb, and Mar. on the west coast of Florida.
marsh, if you're anywhere near Sarasota, get in touch with Dee, NancyB or me. Dee and I meet for lunch occasionally and next winter we hope to include NancyB. I think there are a few others in this area too. Would be nice to all get together, since we already 'know' each other, thanks to Joan.
We left Florida last week. Had to escape the heat. We are out east on LI. It's been raining since we arrived. I don't mind at all. It never rains at home. Our new sod, at home, is probably dead. Nothing changes for me, except the location. Still have all my AD duties. DH was a great traveler. My son flew down and drove us up. Will reverse it when we want to leave. Next weekend BBQ.
quiet day here. DH and I are alone as usual. We have a single daughter 40 min. away but she is too self-absorbed to worry about our social lives. Prefers to be alone. She was the one I was sure would be married before college was finished. Other children are all over the country and call often. Other daughter is about 150 mi. away but comes to work in the metro area often so stays with us. She is in denial of her dad's AD. She gets to deal with it differently than I. She jumps in her car and goes home. All good kids but clueless. I am sure life will catch up with all of them at some point.
Had a good day yesterday with 2 of our kids and family. Daughter, SIL, 2 teen grandsons plus our son (unmarried). They joined us for the brunch at our retirement home at noon. Then Daughter and family went to Fort Knox (on Penobscot River) to watch re-enactments. Supper was grilled burgers and dogs, potato salad, baked beans, and watermelon. My wife didn't say much, but seemed to enjoy being with the family.
Had a wonderful time with the whales last night. First shift was with the larger whale keeping her upright. She gets nebulizer treatments for her pneumonia. Later on I stayed with the 1200 lb baby monitoring her breathing. Log is updated every 30 minutes. She breathes about 9 times a minute-but not regularly. I found myself holding my own breath when she didn't take a breath in time. Pilot whales are beautiful animals. Skin is silky and fragile. They are black and very sleek. Body tapers to a long thin tail the fans out to a beautiful fluke.
Summer has finally arrived in the Pacific NW, and everyone here is ready to celebrate the 4th in sunshine. I will go to my daughter's to enjoy the g-kids and wee kids of friends...something I haven't been able to do for at least three years as Garv couldn't sit still long enough to stay anywhere. I am soooo looking forward to this.
Spent the last 3 days with kids & grandkids & DH did pretty well. However yesterday our youngest granddaughter was baptized & when we went to sit down at church DH sat next to SIL’s grandmother. DH always called her his girlfriend & they always had a good time teasing each other. Well he sat down next to her & didn’t even recognize her. She told him who she was & he told her that it was nice to meet her. I looked at her & made a sad face & she just gave me that “knowing” smile. You know that one incident was like a slap in the reality face. Just another slide down the AZ hill.
