My dear sweet husband is now resting in peace. He died yesterday while I was sitting on his bed holding his hand. I had been playing some of his favorite music and hoping he was hearing it and what I had whispered to him. There is a song called "I'll See You on the Other Side" which he really loved. Less than half way through the song he took his final breath. I punched the call button for the nurse and the person that responded told me later that she could hear that song through the connection and that she cried. We had time with him before he was taken away and we played all his music that he loved most, talked to him, touched him and had time to cry together. In many ways that was our (mine and the children) time of mourning and our personal service for him. The actual funeral will be later in the week.

So this disease has taken another life and another loved one. I will continue to visit here when I can and I want to thank each of you for your help and your prayers since I first came here. A special thanks for our joang who has provided this place for us to gather.

It had to have been a great comfort for your DH to be hearing his favorite hymn as the last music he heard in this realm. He had a peaceful passing, with loved ones present helping him cross the threshold to a full and well life on the other side.
May you and all your family find peace knowing you did your best for him all along this journey. I am sure he is, in spirit, with all of you now...Blessings

Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers and support. You have been here for me and helped me through this process. Today has been spent getting the little final touches in place for the service. I am so lucky to have had this man in my life. A friend sent me a picture of my husband made the last time they had lunch together which was about a year ago...oh the changes he has gone through. I had placed a handwritten sign over my DH's bed stating that his eyesight was very limited and that he had dementia. I removed that sign the day he died and told the nurse it was outdated...his vision is now perfect and he has no dementia...

On the day of the service we'll release butterflies. He loved butterflies...you know the saying "just when the caterpillar thought life was over...he became a butterfly." My dear sweet husband is now a butterfly.

Thank you again for your support. I'll visit again when all of this is past.

Jackie, your post was very moving..... My Dad quoted that quote to me all my life... he always gave me butterfly kisses too. So, it was no shock to any of us when at his service a beautiful yellow butterfly fluttered around for his entire service, then came to rest on my arm......

I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Please do come back when you are able, ((big hugs))

Remember to add your star - and keep in touch when you can.

Thank you all so very, very much. We had a beautiful service and then released the butterflies. They circled around the crowd for a little and flew a little farther away. It was wonderful and so uplifiting. My sweet husband was enjoying it I feel sure.

Mary, how do I add my star?
