My hb has been on aricept for 18 months and I am wondering if he is needing an antidepressant or anti-anxiety med.
He can be verbally abusive when tired or frustrated and sometimes acts out in ways that are surprising to me. I know, don't tell me we all do.......it is not typical anger, doesn't take much for it to happen. I dread having to medicate him before it is necessary and don't look forward to talking to the doctor about it nor do I want to wait to long.

We have lived with our spouses long enough to know what is not typical anger. I went through verbal abuse, rages, temper tantrums - it was HORRIBLE, not only for me, but for him. When he wasn't verbally abusing me, he was crying from what what happening to him. To save us both, he went on an anti-depressant and an anti- psychotic.

I would strongly suggest discussing it with his doctor.

Andy, Joan is right...you have to get the meds now...you don't want to wait...it might get much worse in a hurry. Please call your doctor now...

Andy, my husband did the same thing. Rips your hear out. It also was not typical of my sweet kind husband.

Meds can always be stopped. A trial of a med can be short. Don't feel like he is being committed to a long long course of a new med.
