I HATE these commercials. #1 None of these things work with (at least my DH's dementia) and when they say things like..."it could start with just a touch" and they look into each others eyes and blah blah blah! Not all people with ED can benefit from these medications or anything. My DH even at one point tried the injections and they didn't even do anything. I feel stupid for even having to turn a commercial off because it hurts me to much to watch it. Isn't that stupid?!?!?! Oh! and if the old spice guy comes on that is an instant turn over for sure. Those cialis commericals though make me want to scream GOOD FOR YOU!!! But what about the rest of us. Get a room and shut up about it all ready! AGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH Thanks for your support ;-)

I hate that icky Viagra ad with that dumb music and icky yodle, if that is what that noise is..so macho..NOT..
I agree, I am so sick of those old lovebirds sitting in a bathtub in the front yard or at the beach..good grief..The other ads I am sick of are the ones for Sandles. Ever notice that maybe there is one token middle aged person shown but the rest look like they are hot out of high school? How come there is nothing out there for us ol wrecks?

My husband is seeing a new urologist for some minor prostate surgery. The urologist asked him if he was sexually active and he said no due to the Parkinson's disease. The urologist said we can talk later about doing something about that. Sigh. That is going to be a tricky one to handle without hurting my husband's ego.

    well girls
i hate to break your bubble but AZ is not the only thing that can cause ED. i have ED and i do NOT have AZ but i am an AZ caregiver. as has been said many times here AZ affects everyone connected to the person with it. It is pretty hard to feel romantic with someone after just cleaning them up after a poop accident or when they don't respond to your advances. the commercials on TV are just a bunch of people hawking a product and they dont have a care about what it does to anyone just so you buy there crap. I think most of those type of meds are just for those who really dont need then but just want to stay UP ALL NIGHT. good luck with that.

ED is not the issue here, it is the lack of a partner that is mentally capable of having a relationship with. The issue is those feeling are gone and will never come back. The thought of a parent having relations with a child is more the issue for me.
  3.
Right. It's the thing the guys have just said.
I hate the ads too, but even if that stuff worked I'd still hate the ads because I do not need googlygoogly in my face when I have learned to live life repressing such concepts.
  4.
The ads are there to sell products. Sometimes there is a cure for something you didn't even know you had :0). Or didn't :0(. The normal world is out there and we are no longer a part of it. You can always hit the mute button or just ignore the commercials.

"The normal world is out there and we are no longer a part of it." WOW...that statement is so sad, but so true bluedaze*! I usually can ignore those commercials, but they are on too many times...so it is difficult to do so.
  6.
The problem with the ED ads or the depends ads ( which I don't see anymore but remember those) or the birth control ads or the ones for all sorts of infections of the you know what kind, it is just nothing is private anymore..I hate the idea of having to explain what some of this stuff is to a kid who is not yet ready to even know about this. No wonder so may 11 year olds are having unprotected sex..some parents don't realize that their kids are doing this..

And then there is us with the get it up ads...Before my hubby was given his dx he had ED issues thanks to diabetes and vascular issues..Nothing quite like being a married nun or monk before ALZ hits the scene too. Just another crumbled cookie in the lunch bag of life I guess!

I'm going back to the picnic thread....

bluedaze is correct...it's just product selling.
Come to think of it though, I do not detest them as much as Alzheimer medication ads.
  8.
I agree that I don't like the cialis ads, or the ones for Sandals. But, speaking as a doctor, I really get upset at the ads for prescription medications such as lipitor, etc. The patient sees the ad, and then tells his/her doctor that they want that medicine, even if it is not the right one, or might even be dangerous. Prescription ads should be baned from TV. Let your doctor decide what medicine is correct. I never prescribe Lipitor, partly because I work only in the Free Clinic where the patients can't afford much. I have found simvastatin (a $4 drug at Walmart) to be just as good.

The Drug Companies are marketing to the consumer, then they give samples to the Doctor and they give trips to Doctors who sell their products for them. They do not want Generics on the market it makes them look too greedy when they have the new drugs they are pushing, then of course they could just change it a little like Aricept 23 mg and keep the money comming in.
  9.
marsh, I totally agree with you. Prescription medications should be banned from TV. The patient should not be telling the doctor what medicine they want. Well....except maybe for AD, since most doctors don't know -present company not included, marsh. You know what I mean.

I have already started to mute those commercials because they make me SICK. morrsb, I feel the same way you do in that I don't want to have intimacy with someone that I just cleaned up or someone that acts like a 2 year old most of the time. When I think about wanting to have intimacy again it is not with my DH. That sounds terrible I know! I could barely type it but that is how I feel. Yes, I want intimacy and even if my DH could "do it" I am not even sure I would "want it" from him. It would be like having sex with a 2 year old and that turns my stomach to think about(besides being illegal) I do agree about the medications being advertised on the TV should be taken off. bella, I agree that it is sad that we are not in the normal world but the statement is more than true. Just the fact that we have trouble watching a commerical and can't stand to see two people loving on each other on TV without wincing is proof of the fact that the "normal" world has left us in their dust. I keep trying to say that it is only temporary but...define temproary!!!!!

deb, I mute most of the commercials. After you have seen them 2 or 3 times it is usually enough. Now if there was a way to turn the picture off until the commercials are over!!!!
  10.
I agree about the medication ones..not only do patients go in and tell the doctors that they want them, the flip side is patients who need that med might just refuse it because the side effects will scare the p&p out of them

Mimi, that happens a lot. Then the dr. hands are tied because they won't accept their help because they think the med. is bad for them. Whenever I have to give my DH any medication I don't tell him what the side effects are because he will automatically have whatever they are.

True story...About 8 years ago DH's doctor gave him a sample of viagra. Because of the TV adds he was afraid to try it. I wonder what happened to those little pills.

I think I've got more hair growing on my ears than my head. What would happen if I took the stuff?
I might go blind, and then I would not care. Did anyone find those missing pills?
