I haven't camped for years but I grew up camping and since I'm am still and often in DeNile we can have some of those giant desert tents with fans to cool them and maybe some cabana boys to fan us and make the tents comfortable. Plus I can't wait to try those beetjuice eggs.

I am with Bama & Vicki, I hate camping, but love the beach. I make really good Strawberry Shortcake, so I could bring that. I haven't been to a Memorial Day weekend in years.

I'll bring tri tip (yum yum good), but my swim suit has a moth hole in it--or else I fell the last time I wore it and tore a hole in the knee.

Yeah, come on ehamilton - I'll bring enough for both of us.
  3.
I thought it was Bama who tore a hole in the knee of her bathing suit.

Laughing out loud about the hole in the knees of bathing suits, too funny!!

hmmmm what to bring, what to bring... I don't eat red meat or pork, but I can tolerate boneless, skinless chicken. Anyone up to BBQing some for me? I will bring my Mom's potato salad, is sooooo yummy!! And we need smores, so I will bring all the fixings for them too. And a huge fruit platter as that is my favorite :)

And alcohol, lots and lots of alchol! Been that kind of a week <wink>

Nikki, if it's 106 I think an ice tub would be better. Plus we'd look a lot "perkier" in the cold.

No holes in my bathing suit but I can't find my black bikini. One of the daughters must have hidden so I couldn't wear it. Darn kids...paying me back for the times I snipped the zipper when their jeans were too indecent to wear. True story.. and they didn't find out until I shared that with them a few years ago. I admit I can be sneaky.

rbosh-here they are again-you must have missed them-Driving directions-drive south for a while, turn left to the ocean and you're here. Don't forget suntan lotion. If your feet get wet you've gone too far.
  5.
By the way, anyone know if there is a pier at this beach? If so we can fish off the end..maybe even spot a starfish..and maybe there is even deep sea fishing. My dad and I used to do that and he caught a bit 7ft sailfish...I got a barracuda.
Oh we are going to have so much fun
Just in case we need a few first aid kits though..you know for scrapes and scratches.

Good thinking Charlotte..we need bioflavinoids for sure. I too am in wine country so I'll bring some California wines if you bring some from your area..we could have one of those wine tasting parties one evening where we check for "legs" bouquet, flavor and we can act like we really know about this stuff and pretend we are sophisticated wine snobs..hheheheheee

I will bring a few gazaboos and plenty of wine coolers. Fruit salad and cole slaw will go with the other dishes. I also have extra pads for the ones that don't want to miss out on too much fun going to the bathroom,,,,,,, we can throw them away with the disposable dishes......... More sweet tea will be included....... Let me know if there is anything else we need. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MONDAY.......... A REAL DAY OFF........love ya all and hope you have a great day......

  9.
Phranque!!! Your're here at last!!!! You made our day.

Since we are going to all be here until after Labor Day, lets have those phireworks on Tuesday.
Phor the Spaghetti and meatballs we need that garlic bread too..I can stuff that in my van.

mammie..you are the first to mention cole slaw..it would not be a picnic without it.. But we are leaving our LOs in the care of trusted caregivers so we don't have to deal with any P&P issues..WE are on holiday...and we hear that this beach has lots of nice clean loos so we should be ok there..Oh and a few are not going to camp on the beach but have rooms in the near by 5star hotel so they will be able to help a lot with the ice..AND we could prolly use the showers now and then if we are nice to them.

Ah Phranque - good to see you - it wouldn't be a party without you. The weather was gorgeous here today. About 88 degrees with a light breeze. Expecting the same for tomorrow.

I don't bother with the food - I only eat desserts - chocolate ones.

Is anyone bringing a beach ball? Just in case I will! I really can't swim so I guess I will just stay on the beach and watch all the fun and when I get hot I will stick my feet in the water. I sure hope there isn't any of those fish that nibble on toes. I don't like pedi's. Maybe a mani would be nice.

I want to stay in a hotel. No camping for me.

Sunrise was gorgeous this morning but I think it is time for a nice long nap so will head up to my beach umbrella and lounge chair with my Kindle and grab a few winks. Don't get burnt!

I can taste the good food already! Best picnic ever. Thanks to all of you for brightening my holiday. I don't think I have had so many friends at one time before. Please teach me how to do the hustle. One dance I never learned.
  13.
With all the talk about bikinis and holes in bathing suits, I'll be sure to bring my camera!!! :-)
  14.
Well I had a long haul from the Left Coast..wow those long drives are not as easy as they used to be...so I had a lie in and now at1035 beach time I am just getting started..Glad Charlotte found the CA oranges I left there..some were off my tree! Those be the naval oranges. I'm gonna need help getting the things out of the van so I hope Phranque and Marsh get here soon and where in the heck is Wolf! Oh did anyone think to ping TX JOE..we want to hear all about everything. Well I better hit the shower and dig in the bag and find my swim outfit...I live in Jaws country so I won't venture out very far except for some deep sea fishing..anyone want to go on that adventure? Maybe we can catch something really big...
  15.
I have the charter boat anchored just off the beach...and todays activities may include a trip to pennekamp state park, and I will reenact the hugging of the statue just for your entertainment...
For those who forgot your bikinis, oh well....who needs them?????
Marsh has his camera, and that is all you will need/.
  16.
Phranque one of my daughters is at Key Largo trying to save one of the beached pilot whales. See if you can give her a cold brew.

If we venture a little further south to Haulover Beach at N Miami Beach, we won't need our swim suits! That was my Beach when we lived there!

thank goodness i brought DH binoculars with me.. remember the ones he would use 3ft away to spy on me while shadowing::))..

. well i do believe i see ..could that be Joan?? coming up the beach a ways off?? geez, i think shes tried to walk here by beach from her home up north ??? uh oh. shes looking a bit disoriented and is looking a bit battered making trecks in the sand towards us.. some of you guys need to make a beeline towards her and be sure to take a BIG alcoholic drink.. or else we may need a stretcher...!!! (giggle, joan i couldnt resist. ) sorry
    bad divvi
  18.
What a day so far..we need to think about getting the campfires going for the hotdogs and burgers and cold beer, wine coolers etc...there has been so much beach volley ball playing and horseshoe tossing..and for the guys girl watching ( but who says we haven't done some guy watching too..hehehe) Hay just cuz we are on diets doesn't mean we can't look at a menu!
Oh and poor Joan after that long long walk I see she ran out of sun screen and has a bad sunburn..get some sun tea and dab it all over her that tannic acid will pull the heat out...she will still look like a lobster but at least she will be mostly pain free.
And what is this I hear about Marsh stepping on a pop top? You can't do this here on the Fla beach..that is for Margaritaville...good thing he has a first aid kit with him...

Mimi, you are a girl after my own heart!!! I like to look(guy watch) too! What is good for the goose is good for the gander I always say. ;-) I just got here, how is the view... I didn't know that sun tea would be good for burns. That is good to know because I don't tan, all I do is burn and peel. I hate it! I think I might do the horseshoe tossing but not the volley ball playing because I have asthma and I don't think anyone would like to see me go to the hospital for memorial day. IIs Margaritaville really a place? Let's go there next time because I like margaritas but I can only have two because I wouldn't want to break marsh's camera!!!! :-0
  19.
Well let's see here...the guy watching I do is mostly admire the hunks on tv..kinda roped in here ( unless I am on holiday at the FLA Beach with Joan's group : ]...And yes the room temp tea does work. I was on a fishing trip with a group of Marines off the coast of Okinawa and I got sunburned..A LtCol that was on the boat had everyone come to his quarters where he had the tea all set up with lots of cotton balls. We dabbed each other for quite a time and lo and behold the next day we looked like we should be in major pain in our starched uniforms but nope..not a bit..it does work...
I don't know if Margaritaville is a real place but Jimmy Buffet says it is...so I guess that is where Marsh got the idea to go without his flip flops and stepped on a pop top..forgot his shaker of salt and was looking of it to go with his jigger of gin...

I suspect by now everyone is getting pretty played out after all the fishing, boating, volley ball and horseshoes, and just lollygagging around in the sun pouring sunscreen on all over..it is almost time for story telling and those somemores...

All us west coast people will put the beach to bed. I have gotten into the habit of staying up until 1 or 2 (got hooked on Jewel Quest II) which will put it at 5 am here in Florida - just in time to watch the sun come up. Will worry about sleep later!

I love tree ripened oranges and after one of them who can tolerate the ones in the store?

this has been a great day - relaxing, playing and having a great time with a great bunch of friends.

Off topic: the manager here has learned how to make blueberry margaritas so will make them for the next workamper get together - for those who want one. I am going to try one but I may have trouble walking back home since I have not drank in years.
  20.
Why is everyone going in already? Sleep? you can do that when you're dead. Get back out here and feel the soft warm breezes off the ocean and star gaze awhile..we can pack later..I mean how much is there? All we brought were bikinis and coverups..we can get the campfire stoked up some more, make some more of the somemores and anyone know any songs to sing around the campfire? It's too early to quit...
