As some may know, Friday the 13th was a banner day here with the washing machine needing work and a freezer that pooped out. We got the new freezer last week on Tuesday. My bil came up and while here took a look at the old one that was only 5,5 years old, said we should have it looked at since there is extended warranty on some complicated parts..condenser and so forth. So took him up on the suggestion. Guy comes out today and checks things out and all those parts work fine but the switch is funked up and that part is 89 bucks...the total to fix it would be nearly 300 buckeroos. I said not but DH said FIX TI!!
So he did..meanwhile I am grumbling..what happened to if we don't both agree something isn't done? hummm. Well service guy gets all of the mess picked up and is to start the freezer to see if it is working and lo and behold.....I say, I say, lo and behold ( in my finest Leghorn rooter accent) it does not sound right....nope the switch was not the problem..The problem was, and you will flip at this, the grounding wires were never screwed in correctly as in at all! Factory defect. I told the guy I heard this kind of buzzing or rattle sound ever since we had this freezer..and thought it was the way I put things in and would re arrange things....well the long and short is that the little thing on the end finally flipped into the fan and the fan stopped..so the freezer while running was not freezing..he screwed the thing in and it works now just fine for 200.00...so now I have a giant freezer and a smaller one..DH said we would give the other one away...I said not for what we just paid to repair it..so he says we can sell it and the repair guy says you won't get but maybe 1oo bucks for it...so I made the big decision ....for now we keep it and I can finally have a freezer for do ahead meals so I am not faced with figuring out meals all the time...
This almost fits as an Alrighty Then...but this time, HE WAS RIGHT!!

Good to hear things worked out for the positive. Probably easier to put dinners in the smaller one and find them.

YES!!! Can you imagine having a 17 cuft and a21cuft freezer..Oh it is going to make life so much easier with the meal planning..now if I make a stew we don't have to look at it for 5 days..I can do things ahead and reheat..which is something I have wanted to do but with a small freezer it was not possible. Anyone wanna come help me rearrange my garage now?

Mimi, I'll come help with your garage if you come & help me declutter my house! My house is no where near what the houses look like on those TV programs about hoarding, but I sure have a lot of stuff I don't need & want to get rid of.

The problem is, that we are not hoarders but we are about 3 years behind in the routine cleaning and shredding of papers etc..deep house cleaning and so forth. It was not until I realized what was wrong with the hubby that I discovered WHY I am so far behind...I get tired just trying to keep up let alone get ahead!

I too have the clutter problem which is more like not getting things put away as soon as I would like and I seem to be confronted with papers, envelopes and things I want to read but never get time to deal with. And when I feel all motivated, then something gets in the way and when I do get a break I just don't want to do anything..yet I hate mess and dust and clutter..I need a fairy godmother and a magic wand!

Mimi. you just said exactly how I feel! I cleaned out the old papers & mail last week, but you wouldn't know it looking around now. I just don't like throwing away anything with my name & address on it until I either shred it or mark it out with a magic marker, consequently the papers pile up. I also hate the mess, but half the time I am too tired to do anything about it & sometimes I just don't care!

Sigh, ElaineH...and I forgot to mention hubbys stack of stuff that needs weeding out...If I could just send him on a vacation for a couple of weeks I could wade through that stuff too and get things ready do donate or toss out.

One thing I won't do is get rid of the clothes he has that are a little snug at the moment..We did that with my dad and then when he did lose wt, near the latter days of his life, we had nothing for him to wear....and had to buy it all again..I will however thin things out.
