Found this test in an article with this title. Whenever I hear the word "expert" I cringe. But since there are days where I wonder who's the one with cognitive impairments, I decided to give the test a go.

If you take it, don't freak out when some tests reach their time limits and you're not done - or even close. That happened to me and I was thinking OMG I am totally going to fail- but I didn't :) Let me know what you get....I only got a 70 - but there were a few that my mouse cursor slipped - that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Well, I'm sure not happy about this one. I know I answered all of the memory questions correct, but I still scored in the "at risk" category. They never gave the answers so you couldn't tell where you went wrong. Time limits are not my thing at all, so I can only assume that's where I screwed up. And I can't manipulate the mouse very quickly.

I'm the only one in my family, whether they have dementia or not, who remembers anything. And I'm required to remember a multitude of things all at once. But the test says I'm at risk, so I guess I'm next for the AD train.

Are they selling a product or a service? If they are, that could slant their scoring in some way.

I wouldn't worry too much Joan - I think there is too much eye hand coordination invloved since it's on a computer. I also probably was given a huge handicap since on the first screen where they ask you to click all the circles, I did that, and the timer kept spinning and spinning and spinning, until I FINALLY noticed I had missed one! So it probably has some algorithm that says this is a poor, uncoordinated soul and they cut me a huge break based on that ;)

I think maybe most the scoring is probably weighted to the last part (list recall)...

And - hey - maybe you just need to practice! My DH tells me he's cured, since there's a computer memory game that he used to only get an 8 on, and now that he's playing it 10 times a day, he's getting a 20 - therefore his cognitive problems are gone :)

I got so far, then it said I had not answered a question but I did - wouldn't let me go any further.

Gosh, I didn't think that I had a problem until I took this test. There are many test condition variables, so they can keep their kangaroo and carrots . ..... Not going to worry about it.

I already take a high potency B vitamin. Even though I got a terrible score, they didn't solicite me to buy anything.

Also, at the end, I had a very good idea of where those items were located, but no way could I give the exact letter location on all of them. Who, besides Dr. Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds, could possibly remember that?????

Right. Well, that was fun. I suppose I'm satisfied with my score, but I certainly see how timer-angst and track-pad fumbling can easily mess with your performance. I would like to have my results marker pointing straight at 110, to the far right, but it was not.
Meanwhile, I doubt if I would enjoy taking the test again in year to see if I do worse.

Based on the Food For The Brain Cognitive Function Test, you have a very low risk of developing Alzheimer’s Disease.

I am under 50, so that might mess up the results some? Interesting, I might take it again.

I got a 61 which doesn't sound good considering the perfect score is 110! But then it said I was at low risk. If we live long enough we are all at risk!!!

Well . . . I man aged to get through it. I think my results might be skewed because of my CMT. Tests kept revolving back as much as forward. Took m e over 1/2 an hour. Scored 40--may be at risk. It was a manual challenge. <LOL>

I didn't do as well as I wanted to on the test but it said I had a very low risk, so I'm happy!

I ended up with a 65.....very low risk. Would love to have Tom take the test but I afraid that it would pi** him off and get him down. He was a "marker" for a regional golf tourney today and really struggled. He called the director of the tourney last night to let him know that he had memory problems. Didn't want it to come down to some strokes he forgot to count. Was told that the kids should keep their own scores but also check with him and that his disease wouldn't count against anyone. I was so proud of him for being worried about this. He is so aware that he has problems.

Had our kids here this weekend for our Granddaughter's high school graduation. The daughter of the graducate (who lives with us) hadn't seen Tom for 6 months but have the "let me know if there is anything I can do" type of mentality. After he told the same story 3 times within and hour I think they might have GOT IT! Probably not tho!
Whether they will keep in contact is very questionable.....this is my son the minister. I think just because he has the calling to preach the word of God doesn't necessarily mean he lives what he preaches.
I am wandering all over the place with my thoughts...maybe I should go to bed.
