April was a difficult month. DH complaining of pins and needles in his hands and feet. We was internist who ordered artery disease, that was ok. I called the neurologist, who relayed through his nurse for DH to see a psychiatrist for cognitive evaluation. That is scheduled for later this month. We saw a back doctor who has ordered physical therapy and further tests. Last Sunday we went to the ER as the pains were in his chest. No, he did not have a heart attack. This week we went to a cardiologist and DH had all the heart tests, EKG, echo cardiogram. That Dr changed some medications and said eat bananas and cantaloupe for low potassium. We go back to him next month. DH woke me up at 6 saying he was in trouble. That is code for chest pains. We talk about his pain and treatment all day, every day. He does not remember what has been done, what will be done. When I had worker in to do scheduled maintenance on the heat and air, he was upset that I had to pay attention to someone else.
Yesterday, I hired a 'companion' so I could go do necessary errands. It went fine, but costs way too much. I pay attention to his pains and I are still trying to help him.
I am at my wits end.

    maryd,

Sounds like my house. You are not alone. One medical problem after another. One doctor after another. Does your husband have diabetes? Pins and needles in the hands and feet could be diabetic neuropathy. I am not a doctor; not trying to diagnose anything, just suggesting ANOTHER doctor to check out.

It is very rough trying to keep track of all of their medical issues, and yes, it gets crazy when they don't remember which doctor did what when.

Also could be the disease is playing havoc in the area of the brain with nerve endings. If all test show nothing definable I would consider that - of which it is really not treatable. I know when my spine is out of adjustment it can play havoc with nerve endings.
